Kindness Begins With Me

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Minding your P’s and Q’s is just a huge part of life right? Being polite gets you a long way with most people.  And using your best bowling manners make the lanes fun for everyone. Its not even like it’s hard either. Most of the unwritten rules are just common sense.  But when they are practiced by everyone, there is no greater place to be!

Ok, so you enter the alley. Right away there are some things to remember. First, you will need to make sure you know the rules of the alley. They may do things different from other alleys you’ve played in, so take note.  Rent the shoes! You have to wear them because “real” shoes leave marks on the approach. You could fall, squeak, and distract others. If you do this as a hobby or go more than 3times a year – buy some of your own shoes! They aren’t expensive and they fit you foot! Look at our blog Fashionista in the Alley for tips.

Returns are No Biggie

Thursday, December 29th, 2011

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers during this holiday season. We hope your presents from bowling.com were amazing hits with your loved ones. Sometimes, however, we all miss the mark just a little bit. Oops.  You swear your husband’s shoe size was an 11 last year… Or you know you heard your son say he wanted a Hammer Taboo but really it was a Storm Virtual Gravity Nano. How did you get that wrong, right? Well, the only way this would really be a problem situation is if you ordered from anyone else but us! So, never fear!

PBA World Championship Recap

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Right now you probably have decided that all you want for Christmas is NOT to have to stop at WalMart again – ever! The excitement of running and getting is unparrelled during the Holidays. But you, you are one of our customers and hense, the smartest in the land, and you have everything ordered from us and wrappped under the tannenbaum. Awesome!

This was not without sacrifice though. While you were doing all of the early preparation, unfortuneately you might have missed the PBA World Championships on ESPN! Missed it live but are about to sit and watch it with the best pack of chips, dip and beer. Or maybe a cup of cocoa and a candy cane to stir? However you watch it – take the time. If you caught it live – wow. We don’t want to spoil it in a blog but it was really great Championship. Equally as good was some of the coverage and then advise. This post by The Bowling Guy is great and incoorporates a video by Xtra Frame’s Jackie Bowling. Great, emotional and some excellent recap and advise about the balls used throughout the last game.

Crafty Old Bowling Balls!

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

This Christmas your family is going to get a real treat. New bowling balls! Personalized in every way. Weight, style, drilled for each individual and your hobby will take on a new excitement. Now, what do you do with the old bowling balls that just cannot be thrown any more? They are cracked and almost don’t even make it down the lane. What do you do? Do not throw it away!

For the crafty bowlers amongst us, there are tons of cute and clever ideas for “recycling” old balls into garden decorations, sculptures and even furniture!
One of the easiest ways to resurrect your old bowling ball is to simply give it a nice coat of some bright, water-repellent paint. It doesn’t take any extra artistic skill to paint on some oversize eyes and facial features, and voila, you have your very own Bowling Ball garden gnome! Just stick it in your yard or in a flower planter and be prepared for the amused chuckles of your admiring neighbors. (more…)

With the World Series of Bowling underway the PBA is busy helping you to be able to see it all. Have you searched their website recently? It is www.pba.com and it has everything. News, calendars and even a section that is interactive. Lucky Strike?

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Knocking down ten pins with the first ball in your frame is hard but certainly not impossible for beginners. A strike is such a thrill. And once you’ve had this thrill you’ll want more and more X’s on your score sheet. But how are you going to get a strike, not only once, but always?
There are steps to a consistent strike and then they become part of the rhythm of your game. Let’s go over some of the mechanics.
