In the Ferrysburg, Michigan at their bowling alley and restaurant you will soon be able to buy anything that catches your eye, even the alleys themselves will be up for grabs.
In 1979 the place was opened for busines and held it’s own until it was foreclosed on in 2010. Now because of the foreclosure all of the items that remain in the bowling alley whether they be shoes, bowling equipment, items from the bar and kitchen or anything else inside the alley it will be going to auction.
The auction itself will take place Tuesday. It will be held online via Orbitbid.com.
“We’re selling the 24 lanes, the ball returns, the pin setters, the pins – everything,” said Steve Morse, of Orbitbid.com. “99 percent of the time we sell everything.”
If you think that you might be interested in anything that the alley has to offer you can pre-bid on items. If you choose not to pre-bid the auction will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and items will come to a close between 6-8 p.m.
The alleys are made of wood not synthetic and Morse said, “bidders make furniture out of them a lot of times, countertops and tables.”
The beer mirrors, like the one below, that the alley houses have already been drawing some interest Morse has said.
There is one thing that needs to be kept in mind if you are planning on bidding on any of the items in the auction on Tuesday and that is you have to remove the items within three days of the purchase yourself.
“So if you’re buying a pair of lanes for grandpa’s barn, you’ve got to be ready to come in here and take them out almost immediately because it’s going to take some time and some effort,” Morse said. “They have to bring their own tools and their own people to lift stuff.”
So if you’ve got the time and you’re close enough to Ferrysburg, Michigan to take some of this alley home with you, It’s definitely worth your time. Again the auction will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. so if you’re looking to build your own alleys from pieces of an old alley you might be in luck.
Sean Rash was the winner of yesterday’s PBA Tournament of Champions. The tournament that was held at Red Rock Lanes and was won by Rash, his first victory in five years. He finished off Ryan Ciminelli 239-205 in the title match.
The last time Rash won was in 2007 at the United States Bowling Congress Masters, but it was all Rash from the outset. He bowled a fantastic title match and took home the hardware, not to mention a cool $80,000.
“This one ranks right up there with the most important titles I’ve ever won,” Rash said. “Your first title is always special, and so is your first major, but this tournament is special because everyone who bowls in it is a champion. The other guys in the finals are all great young players.” He also said, “the great thing about winning a title like this is we’re all family out here. Every other player wants the other guy to succeed. It really feels good.”
Along with the title Rash is also starting to appear in the conversation for PBA Player of the Year. This conversation has been spurned by Rash’s unofficial lead on Tour in earnings, average and competition points all the while being in the top ten in 11 of 14 tournaments. With his title, Rash also inserted himself into the PBA Player of the Year chase. He unofficially led the Tour in earnings, average and competition points while finishing in the top 10 in 11 of 14 tournaments.
Ciminelli was all positive after the match giving all the credit to Rash for the victory, noting that he eliminated two top players in order to get to the title match.
Ciminelli’s competition to get to the final match was pretty tough too. He beat Jason Belmonte who is one of the best bowler’s in the game, 257-223 and he also bested Mike Fagan, 190-182.
The bowling season has ended, but a special post-season PBA Summer Shootout is in the works for Memorial Day weekend. The details should be released soon.
Storm Tropical Breeze Black/Cherry
If you haven’t already heard Storm is set to release four new balls in the very near future. One of which is the Storm Tropical Breeze in an all new black/cherry color. The ball is set to be released on May 8, 2012.
Peek at the Design
The new Tropical Breeze black/cherry has three new awesome colors and fragrances. It’s a ball that will appeal to any bowler, no matter his or her skill level. Like all of the other Tropical Breeze balls this new color combo will have the Reactor reactive coverstock material. Making the ball glide right through the heads and at the same time it’s down-lane action gives you maximum pin carry. (more…)
If you think that PBA West Region competitor J.T. “Action” Jackson looks very familiar to you there’s a good reason for that. You see “Action” Jackson is not only known for the action he gets on his ball as a professional bowler, he happens to be a professional actor as well.
Jackson who is 35 years old and lives in Sherman Oaks, California bowled in the PBA Tournament of Champions, after winning the West Region title. He has also become well-known for his appearance in commercials with companies like Honda and CDW, which also features NBA legend Charles Barkley. He has also been in numerous national television series.
Friday the 13th of April Jackson’s independent film “Bud Z” hits selected theaters.
Clearly Jackson has been keeping busy being a pro bowler and actor is no easy task. Jackson has said that last year he was lost, but he has been more focused on his game this year. Working continuously on his bowling onslaught, he has seen the rewards.
Funny that Jackson only started bowling in 2003 when Kevin Hart and a few other comedians went bowling one night. The friendly game got a little bit competitive and from their Jackson was hooked. He says he is still learning what equipment to to use plastic, urethane or resin, but Jackson has come a long ways since 2003, that’s for sure.
You don’t have anyone else’s hands. Why would you use someone else’s ball?
Every bowling ball has its own personality. The difference that makes each unique is in its core. A ball’s core is dynamically imbalanced to give a ball a certain pitch as it rolls down the lane. Therefore, the way a ball flares as it rolls down the lane is unlike any other ball.
