The ninth United States Bowling Congress Convention and Annual Meeting kicks into full gear on Wednesday morning at the Silver Legacy Resort in Reno, Nev.

“Together We Can” is the theme of the 2014 USBC Convention and Devin C. Hughes, a motivational speaker known for his expertise in the science of happiness, organizational/cultural change and leadership development will start a full day of seminars and exhibits for delegates with a presentation on Wednesday at 9 a.m. (Pacific).

Wednesday’s seminars include an introduction to the Association Performance Standards, the new system of youth bowling and a look at this year’s legislation.

Seminars continue Thursday morning, including the Meet the Candidates seminar where delegates can hear from the six candidates running for the four open positions on the USBC Board of Directors.

The USBC Annual Meeting will begin Thursday afternoon and includes the Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL) and Susan G. Komen Meet for the Cure presentations. Delegates also will hear from industry representatives from the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America, The Bowling Foundation, Strike Ten Entertainment, Professional Bowlers Association, World Tenpin Bowling Association and the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame.

On Thursday evening, the USBC Hall of Fame will hold its annual dinner and induction ceremony at the Reno Ballroom. This year’s inductees are Steve Cook and Doug Kent for Superior Performance, John Gaines and Dale Traber for Outstanding USBC Performance, and the late Woody Woodruff for Meritorious Service.

The Annual Meeting continues Friday morning with presentations to national award winners, including the USBC National Recognition Awards and the Star of Tomorrow Awards. USBC President Andrew Cain also will deliver his report.

On Friday afternoon, the legislative session and board elections will take place. Delegates will vote on 10 legislative proposals, with several of the proposed amendments relating to USBC dues structure for state and local associations. Delegates also will select four members for the USBC Board of Directors. The USBC Nominating Committee slated six candidates – the committee may slate up to two candidates for each open position – including three current board members.
