Player of The Year Race

The Barbasol PBA Tournament of Champions is one of the biggest events of the PBA season. It will be starting up on Wednesday and got us thinking about the Player of the Year race. At this point of the PBA season there are five players that stand above the rest. It's still early in the year, but let's take a look at what the top 5 contenders have done this far in no particular order.

Sean Rash- Leads the tour with eight top five finishes this year and is looking to repeat as Player of the Year. Among his top five finishes Rash has a win in the WBT Kuwait Open, second-place finishes in the Earl Anthony Players Championship, Japan Cup and the WBT IBC in Tokyo, third in the WSOB Viper, PBA World Championship and the Mark Roth Classic and a fifth place finish in the Carmen Salvino Classic.

Jason Belmonte - Took home the hardware at the USBC Masters, plus two second-place finishes, a third at the WSOB Scorpion Championship and a fourth in the Brunswick Euro Challenge.

Parker Bohn III - Won the PBA World Championship, finished fourth in the USBC Masters and also made another TV appearance in the Japan Cup.

Mika Koivuniemi - Won the Japan Cup and the WBT Qatar Open, second place finishes in the WBT Kuwait Open, Japan Cup and WSOB Viper Championship, plus a fifth place finish in the USBC Masters.

Scott Norton - Won the WSOB Chameleon Championship and the Earl Anthony Players Championship and finished second in the Mark Roth Classic.

While these five are the most likely to take home the Player of the Year award, you never know when someone will come out of nowhere and win it.
