What should bowlers be thankful for?

It has been stated that bowling can trace its ancestry back to 3200 BC. That is over  5 thousand years ago!  On September 9, 1895, at Beethoven Hall in New York City, the American Bowling Congress was born. Soon, standardization would be established, and major national competitions could be held. Originally bowling in the American Bowling Congress was only allowed for males. It wasn't until 1917 when the Women's International Bowling Congress was born. Then finally in 1961 the first Professional Bowling Association (PBA) game was broadcasted by ABC to be viewed by the country. Successful promoter, agent and entrepreneur Eddie Elias founded the PBA, and with his leadership, the Pro Bowlers Tour became a hugely popular stalwart of ABC sports broadcasting. Joined later by telecasts of the Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour (the forerunner now the Professional Women's Bowling Association, PWBA) millions of Americans witnessed and became interested in the sport. Today, the sport of bowling is enjoyed by 95 million people in more than 90 countries worldwide. Under the auspices of the Federation Nationale des Quilleurs (FIQ), bowling's top athletes regularly compete in Olympic Zone and worldwide competitions.

There are so many events and reasons as to why bowlers should be so thankful. They play a sport that is loved by millions. Bowlers should be thankful for the Egyptians, who were the first to record bowling a ball with the objective of knocking down pins. Bowlers should be thankful for the long and hard fought process that allowed bowling to become a professional sport. Bowlers should be thankful that there is a game that can be played and loved by anyone out there. Bowlers should be thankful that you don't need to be 6'5" 210lbs to play this sport, you don't need to be a certain height and weight, but instead you can be 4 feet tall weighing a buck twenty soaking wet, and as long as you can knock down pins with precision consistently, you can make a great living as a professional bowler. A bowler can bowl anytime he or she wants for as long as he or she wants, now that's something to be thankful for.  Bowlers should also be thankful that they don't need to be a professional to enjoy this sport. Families and friends are always flocking to the local bowling alleys and are having the time of their lives as they compete against each other to take home the victory, along with the bragging rights of course. Last but not least, bowlers should be thankful that they are alive and well enough to enjoy the thrills and life learning lessons a simple game like bowling can bring.
