THE HYPE By Tom the Ball Tester from Fort Wayne, Indiana
Reviewed on: 8/1/2011
Verified Reviewer Pros:Ball tester Tom Best Uses:Tournaments, Local Bowling Alley Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend The Hype is a medium high velocity ball. It has a tendency to take off and roll into a hook. It is best used on dry to medium alleys. It has a slow reactive backend and high "smash" front end. To much speed and it will run. Best used with a medium speed bowler. I test many balls for different companies and "The Hype" by AMF is one of their finest balls put out there and for the price, you can't go wrong. I compare this ball to being similiar to the Nomad. This ball has a good snap, and in its own element can perform the best and most expensive ball out their on the market today. The color and surface of the ball feels comfortable to the hand and seems to thrive for a classic bowler or high league average bowler. If your looking to improve your average and are looking for comfort and grip, this is your type ball. I would not recommend this ball to pro's , as this ball does have weaknesses in the back, as if not thrown propersly, it will have a tendency to slip into a 7-10 or "rabbit Ears" split. Thrown to hard and it smahes through the pins, but will leave you stranded with a split or 5 pin ste or sometimes "Christmas Tree " effect.(pins that form a shape of a tree) otherwise for a experienced bowler and medium type bowler it is a beautiful ball with no "high Price Tag" fit for one who loves to bowl. I would not recommend this type of ball to a beginner, but would gradually graduate into this ball. Its a keeper. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.
