DOM BARRETT WINS THIRD PBA TITLE IN QATAR

Storm star Dominic Barrett of England rolled two consistent big games in the title match of the 13th Qatar Bowling Open Tuesday evening at Qatar Bowling Center in Doha en route to win the title and the $41,295 top prize. Barrett, who entered the four-man playoffs as the No. 1 seed, fired games of 257 and 258 to defeat No. 3 seed, Mattias Olsson of Sweden, 515-467, in two games total pins format. Olsson received 14.400 Euro for second place.

Other PBA players among the cashers included Storm's Mike Fagan, Fort Worth, Texas, fifth; Storm's Osku Palermaa, Finland, sixth; Tommy Jones, Simpsonville, S.C., seventh; Bill O’Neill, Langhorne, Pa., 13th; Storm's Tim Mack, Indianapolis, 15th; Martin Larsen, Sweden, 16th; Mika Koivuniemi, Finland, 18th; Storm's Andrew Frawley, Australia, 21st, and Paul Moor, England, 24th.
Two other members of Robert Morris University-Illinois’ top-ranked collegiate team – junior Marshall Kent (Storm staff) of Yakima, Wash. and senior Matt Gasn of Laurel, Md. – finished eighth and 10th, respectively. Kent, a two-time Collegiate Bowler of the Year, recently competed in PBA World Series of Bowling V on a PBA Commissioner’s Exemption, and was the leading qualifier in the PBA Scorpion Championship that will air on ESPN on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The 2012-13 PBA Tour season will conclude with the 7th International Kingdom Open at Universal Bowling Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Dec. 11-16. The International Kingdom Open, along with the Abu Dhabi WBT and Qatar Open, are World Bowling/PBA International Tour events. All three are part of the two-year, rolling World Bowling Tour points competition.
