This week Thunderbowl Lanes will play host to the PBA Xtra Frame Tour’s Detroit Open. This week’s field will include Pete Weber trying to make it two wins in a row, after last week’s win at the PBA’s U.S. Open.
Weber garnered a lot of national media attention after winning his record fifth U.S. Open championship. Needing a strike in his final frame to defeat Mike Fagan 215-214, Weber stepped up and got it. After getting his strike, Weber had what could be described as an explosion of emotion celebrating his victory.
This week’s tournament starts Saturday at 9 a.m. with round-robin match play. Then a second round match play round at 1:30 p.m., following which the top four bowlers will vie for the $10,000 first prize and a spot in the PBA Tournament of Champions. Coverage can be found on PBA’s Xtra Frame online bowling channel.
