The Passion of Sports

I went to the local bowling alley today to enjoy my day off by spending a good 3-4 hours trying to perfect my release. I usually try and align it up with work so I can have Wednesdays off because no one is at the lanes and I almost always have that place all to myself. Today was different though. As I was pulling in the parking lot, I noticed way too many cars for my typical Wednesday afternoon bowling time. But because of the rain, one of the local high school baseball teams decided to have practice at the bowling alley instead.

I don't follow the high school sports very well so I don't know how well this team is doing, but if they played baseball like they bowled then I would guess they were undefeated. Not because they were up there bowling a strike every time, but it was because of the passion and comradery that was being displayed. It was so beautiful to watch each individual of that team get up there and bowl. A couple were actually pretty decent bowlers who didn't leave any open frames and were actually bowling consecutive strikes. But after each player bowled, every single one of his team members would go nuts and cheer like crazy as if he bowled a perfect game. I mean every single time one of them bowled his teammates would go wild! You couldn't tell the difference of whether the guy gutter balled or bowled a strike because his teammates would cheer him on the same and still mob him with high fives and fist bumps and chest bumps and all sorts of bumps kids are doing nowadays, but because of the reactions of the teammates, it seemed like every player was bowling a strike every time they got up there. That is how positive and upbeat that team was today.

Bowling brings out the best in everyone. This team sure displayed it and it was beautiful to see. I love this game of bowling because it truly can be enjoyed by everyone. That team didn't let rain get in their way today. Bowling didn't let it happen. Bowling is always there for a rainy day. And hey, if that team has had some bad luck in the past, I bet they turn it around because of that amazing display of team building and comradery showed at the bowling alley today. The love and passion that this baseball team displayed today gave me chills and made me feel more positive than I have ever been. They respected the game and enjoyed it to its full potential. This game can bring joy and happiness to anyone and everyone. Get out and play and keep making memories. As always, bowl on!
