I took my Sunday Football day and changed that to bowl a tournament at All-Star Lanes in Shreveport, LA. The format for the tournament is a 5 game qualifier and then they cut the field to the top 16 for double elimination match play. The shot that was put out for the tournament was Kegel's Dead Man's Curve. The approaches were wood while the lanes had AMF HPL. There were around 60 bowlers in the field.

While practicing on the pattern, I had a really good look playing just inside the track area. My lay down point was around 22, hitting 17 at the arrows, and having my break point at 12. I had a good look with a couple different bowling balls. Nano, Hy-Road, and IQ Tour Pearl were the main three I used in practice. I decided to throw the IQ Tour Pearl because anytime I missed a little in, it held really well.

I went 218-230-214-169-237 for the 5 game qualifier. I qualified 14th place. I got in trouble game 4 trying to make adjustments when no moves were needed. I was slowly following the pattern left game by game. I made another move game 4 and got into trouble, leaving 5 splits that game. It was not until game 5 first frame I realized I was too far inside. I made a small move back to the right and managed a decent final game. The pattern held up really well since there were only 3 bowlers on a pair.

Moving on to match play. By this time, the pattern is starting to open up. The scoring pace went from a 220 average in qualifying, to about 240 avg in match play. I won the first match 257-254. Then I lost the next two matches with my opponents running the front 8 against me. They both shot 260+ while I only managed 230+ each game.

It was a great experience. I bowled with and against some very quality bowlers. If you are interested in bowling, I will provided the link for the ASBT. https://www.asbtbowl.com/ This is the link you may click on to get more information on their tournaments. Hopefully I can make it to another one sometime. Now it is time to get the SFA Womens Bowling program ready for their season opener next week.
