You've heard the expression "sticks out like a sore thumb"? Well if you're a serious bowler then you know the irritation a few games can cause the skin on your fingers. For an added measure of protection you need the thumb saver. Just slide it on and forget about it.
Right Hand Only
i love this but it gave me a blister on my thumb because of how it is sewed on the inside.
Look good, feels good, doesn't impede ball release, saves my thumb. good product.
I bought this product so i can come out of my thumb hole more smoothly instead i can't even fit into my thumb hole anymore. I would have to get my thumb hole bigger jut to use this i would reccomend this to a bowler who's thumb hole is to big
I got this product because my thumb hole was slightly to large. i thought "Hey i dont want to pay the money to get a new insert, ill just get this instead." Right when i opened this it felt cheap with the thin as paper nylon. the velcrow strip seamed flimsy but i gave it a go.My thumb would fit in my ball comfortably. first ball out the thumb grip began to peal up, second ball, the velcrow undid itself. by this time it started to irritate my thumb and made it swell, making my thumb fir nicely in the hole. DON'T BUY THIS, just invest in some good grippy tape.
I bought this product only to fix the problem of my thumb swelling and sticking. I got tired of using tape in the ball and powder on my thumb every other frame. I bowled with it all season and absolutely love it. I did have to get my thumb hole opened up a bit to make my thumb fit because quite obviously when you put the thumb saver on your thumb, it is now bigger than before you put it on. The stitching on the side is quite uncomfortable as the sides of my bowling thumb are already wider than normal from bowling. What I did was rotate the grip of the thumb saver 90 degrees towards my fingers so the pad is facing my index finger. My thumb fits very snug so no more squeezing the ball and it comes out of the ball every time with ease, great product I'm ordering one for next season and a backup so I never have to worry about being without it.
I haven't had a chance to use the thumb saver a whole lot , but what time I have used it has been great. The thumb saver has enablled me to stop usiing grip cream on my thumb and to keep applying it as time wears on. The thumb saver has kept my thumb a very consistant size no matter how long I bowl. My average has actually increased a couple of pins so far. You all can bet that when this first thumb saver wears out that I* will purchase another one.
Never bowl without it.
The stitches are in the wrong place they rub the inside of my thumb, and the stitches fell apart the first time I used it
took some getting used to. but overall great product
I found that I was getting a callous on my right thumb as well as experiencing soreness there. I ordered the thumb saver and found the fit and comfort to my liking. And I could use it along with my regular bowling glove. My game has improved since using it. I recommend this product.
Bought this since my thumb sticks a bit; while my release improved a little I had to adjust the thumb hole a bit to allow this to work with my ball, and then after 3 or 4 months several holes appeared in it. Now I need to put a thumb insert in, costing me 15$.
Because of thumb injury, my thumb hole has to be larger than normal. Even with tape, the ball would not fit right. The glove makes the thumb fit perfectly. My release is much more consistent now.
The rough stitching/seam can cause the skin to rub off on the outside of the thumb. Needs to be addressed.
I tried this to stop blisters but it doesn't fit in the hole
I wore this once. While my thumb tip was protected, the slick fabric below the tip caused my finger to slip out of the hole. I couldn't keep a grip on my ball. The item was difficult to put on and would not stay in place on my hand. Sadly, I will return it and revert back to taping my thumb.
idk if i received a different one, but the thumb saver i have only has the extra grip on the tip of the thumb no where near as low as the one in the video. so pretty much useless if you wanted it to help hold onto the ball better.
i bought this for my mom, and it didn't come anywhere closeto fitting. it seems it would be a great product if they made a small version
I use this product about 18 to 26 games a week and when the saver was new it was great to use.
Unfortunately as it gets used the coating on the thumb starts to break down and the saver loses its coating completely and the thumb is exposed.
I like to used them but have had to buy 5 in a year and a haft. I could have brought a lot of tape for the price of the savers.
I've been bowling for 20 years and have never come out of a ball so smooth on the release. It works great with or without thumb plugs in the ball, cause I have some with and without them. I highly recommend this to anyone that has trouble coming out of the ball due to a callus which I have on the back of my thumb. Since I've been using the thumb saver my callus has went down some. This product for me is the best I've used so far. It's almost like your thumb isn't in the ball. I plan on buying a couple more just to have extras if I need them.
Just wow. I recently got back into bowling and with a new ball. I got a blister on the knuckle of my thumb, which then turned into a callous/scab. It would not heal because it would re-open every time I bowled. It was becoming quite large and painful. I tried super glue, liquid skin, tape. Nothing worked. So I went searching for something to remedy the problem long term. I found this awesome item.
The next time I went bowling, my sore didn't open nearly as much, letting it heal more before my next night of bowling. By the second bowling session, the sore didn't open at all. Now it's all healed. I continue to use this because I got used to it, and it feels better than bare thumb.
I find that it makes my thumb fit tighter without causing it to get stuck or stick. I actually find my release is smoother and more consistent. My game has improved from a 140 avg to a 165 avg over the past 2 months as well. I doubt it's all due to this item, but I feel it has contributed.
The only slight downside is that after 6 games, the strap around the wrist noticeably digs in. But I don't notice it much until I take it off. Overall an excellent product that I will continue using.
This truly was a thumb saver for me! :D
Best thing I have found in bowling.
I use it on my thumb, no need for tape now. it really helps give me consistancy as well as the ability to bowl more games with less Thumb Fatigue.
I'm really excited about this product! I had a major problem with my thumb swelling up half way in the middle game. Always had to use chap stick and other things to keep my thumb from sticking. I will probably order another one just in case.
This has made a huge difference in my game.
When I first put it on it fit well but was too big. The Velcro almost didn't hold because It folded over it self. and then when I tried to put my thumb into my ball... It wouldn't fit. The way its sewn together the stitching goes down the side of the thumb and it restricts the thumb from entering let alone leaving.. If I smash my thumb into my ball, it seems to work alright...
Thought the product was designed to aid in preventing the thumb from slipping rather than the other way around.
ONLY HAD IT FO A FEW WEEKS HOPEING IT WILL WITHSTAND THE ABUSE I,M GOING TO PUT IT THREW
Worst product ever! I can't even put my thumb in anymore. I will have to drill a new whole just to use this. Bowling.com's 15 day return policy is BS! I do not bowl that often and 15 days is way too short.
Maybe useful but not tried yet.
Ball won't stay on. Went to roll the ball and it went backwards. Too slippery
Female purchase don't work if u have small hands don't buy
Pros : The product is great. I bought it as a substitute for finger tapes. which are ok too. But it is very practical ( Not to put a finger tape every day you go to bowling ) Very smooth release. and for me a great fit.
Cons. : The thumb saver should be came in several sizes. People with smalller and thinner fingers ( Mainly girls ) doesn't like it because doesn't fit right. And it starts to worn out relatively soon. After - around 15 - 20 games or so, the fabric start to worns out and break it. I don't expect to last forever of course, But it should last longer.
