Question: I am 77yrs old ball speed 10.5 to 11.5 roll straight up back of ball If I get ball drilled a pin down with plan between my fingers what will happen

3/10/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: This ball is designed to read the lanes earlier to give you more of a gradual hook on the lanes. Out of the box this could be difficult for your ball speed. The features on the ball like the coverstock, weight block, and finish will effect the performance of the ball much more than the drilling. Different drill patterns can alter the ball slightly but the ball will still want to read earlier and this could be hard for someone with a slower ball speed. You may prefer to get a ball that is either a pearl or at least something with a polished finish to get you more length to match your speed.

Question: How does this ball compare to the DV8 dude

3/10/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: The Grudge is going to be much stronger overall than the DV8 Dude. The Grudge has a solid cover with a duller finish to help it read in heavier oil and also read more in the midlane to get the roll started sooner than the Dude which was intended to go longer on medium to lighter oil.

Question: Should I expect more hook than my Marauder with the Grudge even though the Marauder has higher RG?

3/24/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Yes it is 3 to 4 boards stronger. Shot 216-238-256 = 710 right out of the box.

3/29/2016 - By

Answer: Higher RG = more length. Lower RG = earlier reaction. Also, the Marauder has a polished surface, while the Grudge surface is 1000-grit sanded, making it significantly stronger.

Question: Hi. I am looking to drill this ball so that I can get length and then look like someone kicked it left at the break point. I am a low rev player with a ball speed of about 13.5mph. My PAP is 4" over and 3/8" up. Any suggested layouts? I appreciate it. Thank you, Ed?

3/28/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello, you may check with the person who will be drilling this ball for you prior to ordering to determine which layout and specs they would use to get you the desired reaction.

Question: How does it compare to the Thug Unruly ?

3/30/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: This ball would be a stronger hooking ball than the Thug Unruly. It would be similar in length but the coverstock and weight block on the Grudge are more aggressive than the Thug Unruly's coverstock and weight block. The hook rating for the Grudge is 265 and the hook rating on the Thug Unruly was 240.

Question: is this ball the hardest hooking ball that dv8 produces right now

4/12/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Yes, according to DV8 the Grudge is the biggest hooking ball in their current line for heavy oiled lanes.

Question: dv8 seems a little strong on my house shot med-heavy oil. 15.5 ball speed. have spinner and pads' how do i turn it down a notch

7/5/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello! The easiest way to make the ball hook a little bit less would be to apply a polish to the ball. If you don't want to do that, then you can sand the ball to a higher grit. The ball is 1000-grit out of the box, so you can use higher grit pads. How much higher will just depend on how much less aggressive you want it to be.

Question: I'm 60 years old and like to bowl down and in. Average ball speed is 13 - 14 . what do you recommend for dry to medium oil lanes?

8/9/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello Skip! That would be a question I could probably answer a lot better if we spoke over the phone. But generally, I probably wouldn't recommend this ball for what you're describing. I would lean more towards something like the Roto Grip Wreck-It or the DV8 Freakshow.

Question: does the ball hook more with the weight hole drilled in it

8/11/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello John! No, the weight hole shouldn't significantly affect how the ball hooks.

Question: How does the vack end break of the grudge compare to the grudge pearl on heavy to medium oil?

11/13/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: There will be a noticeable difference on the backend hook for these two bowling balls. The pearl ball is designed to do all of the hook motion on the backend of the lane so the Grudge Pearl will be a more aggressive backend. However, the Grudge starts hooking earlier on the lane for a smoother reaction through out. It will have good continuation on the backend but because it starts hooking earlier it will not have as much hook left over for the backend as the pearl ball. The Grudge will be the stronger hooking ball out of the two but not the stronger backend of the two.

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello Rick. The DV8 Grudge and Pitbull will have the same hook potential, lane conditions, coverstock, and performance level.

Question: Hi my name is jason and I was so seeing if it would be a waste of money to buy the dv8 gurdge pearl too throw on hard wood omy ball speed is between 16 to 18 mph

3/6/2017 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: I think the Grudge Pearl would be a great ball to start the nights with if you are in a league. The original Grudge required Heavy oil only so it may not be of much use on your typical league oil patterns on wood lanes but the Grudge Pearl has more length to help it work more through medium and heavy shots.
