More promiscuous than a Storm Ice
I've been into throwing plastic and polyester balls for about eight months. I love this Hammer ball. The gas mask core gives it a nice little hook. It can be thrown straight, but it requires finesse (that an entry-mid level bowler may not possess). I've let a few of my buds throw it, and when they ask "does it hook?" I say, "just enough" and wham 9/10 times they'll hit that 1,2,3 and even those four pin spare shots.
In my opinion, if you want a STRAIGHT spare ball, the Storm Ice could be better for you. However, if you want something with some hook potential and grace if you're not a pure straight shot (like me), this ball is a perfect spare for you.
BTW, I throw a 15lb. I would describe myself as an average bowler who just likes to throw HARD

5/5 I love this ball, and as of recently, I have even used it as a primary ball even over my Storm Intense.
I just love it (very fun) and odds are you will too.

Excellent for spares and strikes
I picked up this to use as a strike ball on very dry lanes, and it's been excellent! I have very high revs and lots of hook which causes big problems on dried, burnt lanes, even with Urethane. Most league nights I'll use this as my strike ball for the 3rd game. I use it as my spare ball as well, but I bought it mainly for strikes and it's doing it's job even better than I anticipated.
