Motiv Forge Fire

The Motiv Forge line of bowling balls continues with the Motiv Forge Fire. This high performance ball introduces the Infusion Hybrid Reactive coverstock which offers a faster reaction to the friction on the lane than its predessesor, the original Forge. The Forge Fire also utilizes the low RG and high differential symmetrical Detonator core. This ball is great at creating angle for various types of bowlers when facing medium to heavy oil.

MOTIV Forge Fire

I drilled two Forge Fireballs because I wanted to see the reaction I'd get down lawn with my traditional 60x5.75x30 and to see how a shorter pin to pap would react(drilled 60x3.75x30).
The Forge Fire is a strong symmetrical piece and with my shorter pin to pap layout it works really well on a fresh house shot. When the heads burn up and the ball sees friction early I can stay in the same zone and use my longer pin to pap layout. I noticed that the short pin to pap layout flared a lot more and would burn its energy really early if I wasn't playing deep enough in the oil therefore causing some carry/defection concerns. The longer pin to pap layout gave me room to play right longer and I noticed greater continuation and a higher carry percentage when the lanes broke down.
The Forge Fire is cleaner and a faster response ball compared to the Forge. When the Forge responds too quickly to friction you can move to the Fire and get the down lane reaction and the extra push through the fronts.  I like the angularity and versatility this ball provides and it can be used on a variety of patterns.

Question:

I'm using g a 14 lb motiv combat tank and bowling on mid-heavy oil and I'm leaving alot of pocket 5 pins. Would you expect tmis

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

A combat tank is not designed to have a large hook potential because it is a urethane cover. Because it is not very much hook it is designed for lighter oil so in medium to heavy oil you would like not get much hook from that ball. If you are coming in the pocket straighter then it will be harder to get pin action and get strikes. You would do better to go to a reactive ball like this Forge and if you have to swing it out and let it come into the pocket with more angle so that it can get better pin action. If you get into lighter oil conditions later in the night you could try the Combat Tank again but I would wait to bring it back out until the lanes are pretty light oil.
