Motiv Trident Abyss

Motiv continues the popular Trident high performance ball line with the Motiv Trident Abyss. This ball introduces the Coercion HV3 Reactive Solid coverstock and pairs it with the proven Turbulent weight block. This combination produces awe inspiring motion in heavy oil conditions by clearing the front part of the lane, hooking hard in the mid lane while storing energy to blast through the pins. This ball is a great for speed dominant bowlers as well as low rev bowlers looking for increased hook.

Question:

I like to use storm, but the strongest i have in storm is a sure lock anf i don't get the reaction on longer patterns. Should i get this or any motiv ball. Im a stroker/tweener mix

9/25/2018 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

A lot of the features on this ball were similar to the Storm Sure Lock. They have the same finish, both are high performance balls and they have the same RG differential so I could not say this would be stronger than the Storm ball you have now. The only other option if you were to get this ball would be to try a different drilling pattern to see if this gets the desired effect you were looking for.

Question:

Would this make a good beginner ball?

9/26/2018 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

We would not recommend this ball for a beginner as this is a high performance ball and only intended to be used in heavy oil conditions. Most beginners will not need something this strong to start with and they will likely be bowling in medium or lighter conditions most of the time so there are better more suitable beginner balls to select from. This ball is for a more advanced bowler who would need a ball that handles heavier oil so someone in leagues or tournaments.

Question:

I'm a 221 ave bowler in 3 different houses, currently bowling with code of honor and hammer ripd

11/12/2018 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Trident Abyss should be a little stronger than both the Code of Honor and Rip'd. It has a stronger weight block than the Code of Honor and a slightly duller finish which would give this more hook. The Rip'd cover and finish are designed for more length while the Trident Abyss is designed for more midlane and more grip so the Abyss would still be able to hook more because it can start hooking earlier than the Rip'd.

Question:

I have the Crux Prime where dose the Motiv Trident Abyss stands in comparison with the Crux.

2/28/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

They are going to be very comparable. Both are high performance balls designed for heavier oil conditions. They have the same 2000 Grit finish and their cores are similar strengths. If you have the Crux Prime, then you probably would not need the Trident Abyss also. If you were replacing the Crux Prime then the Trident Abyss is a good replacement.

Question:

I roll the ball about 15 mph but have low revs, would this ball be good for me.

1/11/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Your ball speed is pretty average so this should not be a problem if you needed something for heavier oil and you want to get something that will give you a smooth arcing hook.

Question:

It’s this boll good for median oil??

1/19/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is rated for heavy oil only so it would not work well on medium oil conditions. It would be too strong and react too early on the lanes.

Question:

If I get this ball drilled to go longer and break on the backend would that kill the hook on the ball?

3/14/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

No, even with a longer drill pattern this ball will still be strong enough to give you a strong hook potential. It will still read the midlane but it may be just a little longer if you do a longer layout.

Question:

I currently throw either a Columbia formula (from back in the day) on dryer lanes and a black hammer taboo in oily conditions. I prefer the motion of the formula. Would this be a good addition to my arensal?

4/30/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

From the information I could find on the Columbia Formula it sounds like that ball had a polished finish to give it more length before it reacted on the lanes. You may prefer the reaction of the Trident Nemesis over the Trident Abyss in that case. The Nemesis has a polished cover which will give you good length with a strong backend hook. I hope this helps.
