Can the lane shine be taken off with 2000 grit pad or do you have to use 500 first

Technically you can use just a 2000 grit pad to take of some of the lane shine but if you want to refinish the ball to get it back to out of the box finish you would have to start with 500 grit and then do 2000 grit.
