Roto Grip Hyped Pearl

Roto Grip wants to get you hyped up with this mid-performance bowling ball! The Roto Grip Hyped Pearl introduces the Hyped core which features a low RG. This core allows the ball to offer more overall motion than Roto Grip's entry-level balls but a little less than their upper-mid performance bowling balls. The coverstock on the Hyped Pearl is the VTC (Versatile Traction Control) Pearl Coverstock which provides durability and consistency on medium oil condtions.

Pros:

Consistent, Strong backend

Cons:

None

Best Uses:

Mid-to-dry, and short oil patterns

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not what I expected!

I was looking for something I could pull out later during league play when the lanes were burnt. Something that would push through the heads, but still store enough energy to carry. I'm not a power player (200 average, 320 rev rate, 14mph ball speed, layout 50 x 4 x 30), so when the oil dries up I tend to lose energy and not carry corner pins. I went in on a day when I knew the lanes would be burnt after leagues, and man this thing hit like a truck! Got through the front clean, didn't lose energy after the breakpoint, and was throwing messengers like crazy! I played around with a few different lines, and it read beautifully. 203, 227, 213 - now I have a dilemma... instead of waiting, this might be the first ball out of my bag!

Pros:

Great for medium to light oil

Bottom Line:

This balls hooks!

I own this ball at 15lbs. Even though the diff is in the lower side this ball hooks a surprising amount. Even though I’ve only had this ball for a couple months it’s already become my favorite ball to use in league.

Question:

Is this ball close/similar to a Hy Road X?

8/31/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball would actually fit between the Electrify Pearl and Hy-Road Pearl. The Hy-Road X had a solid coverstock which would read a little earlier and the Hy-Road series is stronger than the Hyped series overall.

Question:

Looking for a similar ball to the storm winner, how would this compare

10/27/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is pretty close to the Roto Grip Winner but the weight block on the Winner was a little stronger. The next step up from Roto Grip would be the Rubicon UC2 but that is actually stronger than what the Winner was so it may depend on what you wanted to do. The Hyped Pearl is closer to the Winner overall but just slightly less hook potential or the Rubicon UC2 would be stronger all around and also handle more oil.

Question:

Should I add the hyped pearl to my bag? Currently I just use rubicon uc2

2/24/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Yes, that would give you a great 1-2 punch on the lanes. The UC2 can work in medium to heavier oil and then as the lanes transition to lighter oil the Hyped Pearl would give you a similar read and have you pick up when the Rubicon was getting too aggressive.

Question:

Similar to Roto grip wrecker?

3/31/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Yes, it would be a pretty close comparison. The Wrecker weight block is a little stronger but it also reacts a little later but the cover on the Hyped Pearl reads later than the Hybrid cover on the Wrecker so they someone even back out in length and strength.

Question:

Is Hyped pearl better for slow ball speeds?

4/30/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The pearl coverstock is designed to give this ball good length and if you have a slower ball speed you want the ball to have good length so it does not hook too much too early on the lanes.

Question:

Is this ball good on dry lanes if not do you have a Recommendation

9/9/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is rated to work well in medium oil conditions. If you get into very dry lanes this may react too early and/or too strong. The Hustle can handle lighter oil conditions a little better than this ball and if you need something in very dry lanes you might consider a Storm Mix.

Question:

What is the best cleaner for the hyped

3/4/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Hi Battman! The Storm Reacta Shine Reactive Polish & Cleaner or any cleaner finished with the Storm Reacta Gloss would be great for this ball.

Question:

I own a Absolute and I'm looking for something with less hook that will go further down lane with decent backend. I'm a lefty and typically play straight up. Would this fit the bill?

5/7/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Hi Mike, the Roto Grip Hyped Pearl will go longer with less hook than the Storm Absolute and is designed for medium oil lane conditions.

Question:

Low rev bowler, would this be a good fit. If so recommended pin location

6/16/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Hi Dave, this ball would be a great option and reacts later on the lanes to get you through the pins. You could talk to your driller about a custom drill and if they suggest a specific pin length for you.
