Balls with Same Hook Potential, Lane Conditions and Coverstock as the Roto Grip MVP:

Roto Grip MVP

The Roto Grip MVP bowling ball is an MVP among mid performance balls. This ball introduces the Neutron NXT core and the VTC-H19 Hybrid coverstock. The core in this ball was derived from the successful Neutron core but with a higher RG that provides ample reaction at the breakpoint. The coverstock formula allows more response to friction at the back of the lane than previous mid performance hybrid coverstocks from Roto Grip. This ball is a go to ball when the lanes transition and a stronger ball starts to break too early. This ball will also be great when up against lane conditions with more friction.

I have a winner pearl and I want to know if this is stronger or weaker than the winner

Since this will have a hybrid coverstock and the Winner will have a pearl, the MVP will be a tad stronger.

Question:

What conditions is the ball good for is it a good replacement for the Halo pearl

9/8/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is going to be good for medium oil lane conditions. The Halo Pearl will be more aggressive than the MVP, it will also be good on medium to heavy lane conditions.

Question:

mvp and idle pro i recently bought both of these balls in 14# the mvp hooks more then the idle pro what can i do to calm this ball down it does not have a weight hole

9/10/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Are both bowling balls drilled with the same pattern? The MVP will hook more on the backend and all at once but the Idol Pro should cover more boards overall. The Idol Pro will have a smoother hook so it can seem like it is not as strong because it starts hooking earlier and the gradual hook is less noticeable than having all of the hook at once like the MVP does on the last part of the lane.

Question:

How does this ball compare to the cutting edge?

9/10/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

It may depend on the Cutting Edge because we have a few. The Cutting Edge Pearl has a polished finish out of the box and this may be the closest comparison to the MVP. The Hybrid and Solid Cutting edge would have a different reaction and will not react the same.

Question:

My cousin throws a backup ball(yes I know it’s weird) and I wanted to know if this ball would roll good for him. He’s using a storm tropical at the moment and is looking for a stronger hook.

9/17/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Any ball can work for a backup bowling but you just have to make sure the driller knows to drill the ball for a backup bowler. The drilling layout will be key to getting the ball to react the correct way for a backup bowler.

Question:

How does this ball compare to the pitch black

9/18/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

There is going to be a big difference between this and the Pitch Black. The Pitch Black has a urethane cover which is much weaker than the reactive coverstock on this MVP. Also the Pitch Black has a duller finish to help it read more midlane and have a smoother hook while the MVP goes later down the lane and has a more angular backend hook.

Question:

Is this a ball that will skid down the lane and then flip?

1/21/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The polished finish on this ball does help it skid down the lane and save the hook until the backened.

Question:

Is the ball stronger than old wrecker? Like more backend. The wrecker hit like a Mack truck.

2/16/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The specs are very close. They both have a hybrid cover with a 1500 grit finish. The RG and RG diff are close with the only difference being the RG Diff is .042 on the Wrecker and .040 on the MVP.

Question:

Like to know how this ball would compare to my Storm Intense...I’m lefty leaving solid 7 as the Intense drills thru the pocket but no pin action to the left so out comes the plastic White Dot for pick up.

3/9/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Storm Intense was a high performance ball designed for medium to heavier oil conditions. It was a pearl cover designed to go longer on the lanes with a very strong backend hook. This MVP is a mid performance ball designed for medium oil. It has a hybrid cover but the polished finish helps this to go later on the lanes and have a decent backend hook. It could be a good compliment to the Intense but it would not be a great ball to replace the Intense if you wanted something to take its place.

Question:

I’m planning out a four ball Arsenal. I currently own a Flux solid. It’s a ball that I have a ton of problems with. Mostly it burns up about half way down the lane and hits the pocket with no energy. I’m considering replacing it with a parallax, next I’m considering the all-road, Roto grip mvp, and finally a mix. Would that be a decent arsenal for leagues and a couple tournaments?

9/12/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Parallax would be stronger than the Flux Solid but it does get a little more length before it reacts. It will depend on the lane conditions you see. If you have heavier oil then the Parallax may be a good option but if you are in medium oil mostly I would not go to the Parallax. I also would not consider the All-Road but maybe instead the Hy-Road Pearl which would give you more length and not ready too much too early like the Flux Solid did or like the All-Road might do. The MVP is also a good option in medium to lighter oil with the polished finish and the mix is good for really dry conditions. I hope this helps.

Question:

This is ball a good ball for Two Handed bowling person

9/17/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Yes, this could work well for a two handed roller. Typically two handed bowlers have a higher rev rate so it helps to have a ball that gets down the lane well. If your ball speed is higher and your rev rate is average or lower then I would suggest something with a duller finish but if you are rev dominant then this would work fine.
