Balls with Same Hook Potential, Lane Conditions and Coverstock as the Roto Grip Rubicon UC2:

Roto Grip Rubicon UC2

Roto Grip is doing something different with the Rubicon upper-mid performance balls in their HP3 line of balls. Like the original Rubicon the Rubicon UC2 (Ultimate Concept 2) uses the asymmetrical Rondure Core which was designed to provide more ball motion overall without the need for the now-banned balance hole. This performance core is wrapped in Roto Grip's eTrax-S20 Pearl Reactive coverstock which was formulated to offer a response on various lane conditions due to its ability to clear the lane then react powerfully on the backend. Out of the box this ball is ideally used on medium to medium/heavy oil conditions.

Question:

Is this ball good in heaven oil

1/18/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is strong enough to handle some heavy oil but due to the polished finish and pearl coverstock, it is only designed to hook on the backend of the lane where it is drier so if the heavy oil is a longer pattern, this may not be a good option. It will do very well in medium oil conditions also.

Question:

Is this a good ball fora 13 mph low rev player?

1/25/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Yes, this could be a decent match for someone with a lower ball speed and lower rev rate. For you this ball will do well in medium to heavy oil conditions with no problem. It is designed to go longer which will make sure it does not overreact too early on the lanes for you.

Question:

How would this compare with a halo vision?

1/26/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Halo Vision was considered a high performance ball while this is considered an upper mid performance so this ball may not have quite as much hook potential. Also the Rubicon UC2 is designed to go longer on the lanes with a sharper backend than the Halo Vision.

Question:

How would this ball compare to the Wildstreak?

2/27/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This will go much longer on the lanes than the Wildstreak. The Wildstreak had a solid cover with a duller finish to read in the midlanes. The Rubicon UC2 has a pearl coverstock and polished finish to give it more length with a sharper backend hook.

Question:

I know this ball behaves similar to the UFO where they roll long on the lane and focus on backend motion. Which ball should I get for playing left of the lane with medium speed and rev?

3/1/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is designed to read longer on the lanes with a sharper backend hook but the UFO was designed to read earlier in the midlane for a smoother arcing hook. So if you are right handed but wanted to stand more toward the left side and swing the ball through the middle of the lane then you would do better with the UFO or a WildStreak and if you wanted to stand more on the right side and play more of a down and in shot you could use the Rubicon UC2 or a Nuclear Cell.

Question:

i have the axiom pearl . pin down. would the UC2 be much different ?

4/4/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The UC2 would have a slightly stronger reaction than the Axiom Pearl. They both have similar length and both get down the lane very well with a strong backend hook but the Asymmetric weight block on the UC2 is a little stronger giving it a slightly stronger hook potential.

Question:

What is the hook potential of the Rubicon UC2

5/4/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is an upper mid performance ball designed to work in medium to heavy oil conditions. This ball will have a strong backend hook and read later on the lanes. We do not have a specific number to put on the hook rating for this ball but in medium oil it would have a high hook potential and in heavier oil it would have an average hook potential.

Question:

More carry with the 16 lb or the 15lb?

5/16/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

A heavier bowling ball will drive through the pins better and create more carry and pin action but you want to make sure you are comfortable using the weight.

Question:

Compare this ball to DV8 Damn Good Verge

3/14/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Rubicon UC2 is going to react much later on the lanes than the Damn Good Verge and have a sharper backend hook. The closer comparison would be the Rubicon Solid to the Damn Good Verge. That reads earlier like the Damn Good Verge.

Question:

I’m currently rolling a Hustle Ink. How would the RC2 compare to that? It looks like it’ll be a little stronger.

12/1/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The UC2 will have a noticeably stronger hook potential and will be able to handle heavier oil conditions than the Hustle. They both have good length and the Hustle Ink would compliment the UC2 when the lanes get lighter and the UC2 is too strong to control on the lanes.
