Storm Hy-Road Max

Continuing the long success of the Hy-Road line of bowling balls is the Hy-Road Max. The Hy-Road Max is a mid-performance bowling ball that uses the Inverted Fe2 core. This core is known to produce a higher RG presentation which typically delivers a later reaction as well as a cleaner shape through the front part of the lane. Storm has added the NeX Solid Reactive coverstock around this core. This coverstock offers more reaction down the lane. The makeup of the coverstock helps slow the ball which causes it to hook on medium oiled lanes.

Question:

Will Storm Max match good with my Storm All Road

1/12/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Max will be slightly duller out of the box and the solid cover will also help it read a little earlier on the lanes compared to the All Road. The Max is designed for medium oil only with the All Road working for medium to light oil conditions also. So you could start with the Max and as you bowl and the lanes start to shift to lighter oil you may could change to the All Road for a little more length. However, there is not a huge step between these two options so there may not be a need for both options. It may however be a good replacement for the All Road if you needed to have a slightly different line on certain nights and the Max may let you play more midlane.

Question:

How does Hyroad X compare to Hyroad Max?

2/6/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Hy-Road Max will have a duller finish out of the box which will help it read earlier on the lanes and also help it handle medium oil better. The polished finish on the Hy-Road X will make it react later on the lanes and this extra length will cause the Hy-Road X to work in more medium to lighter oil conditions.

Question:

Would this be a good ball to replace my Axiom Solid? If not what would be a good ball of choice?

2/11/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball will read the lane pretty close to the Axiom Solid but it has a little less hook potential. Because of this the Hy-Road Max is more suited for medium oil while the Axiom was more suited for medium to heavy oil.

Question:

Will this be good on short patterns

2/14/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is designed for medium oil conditions but the duller finish and solid cover are designed to read the midlane so if the patter is shorter then this ball may read too strong too early. You may need something more suited for more length with a polished finish.

Question:

Would the hy road max be a good addition to the storm iQ emerald I now throw I have med ball speed a slightly lower rev rate

2/20/2021 - By

It may depend on what you need the ball for. The IQ Tour Emerald is designed to work in medium oil conditions just like the Hy-Road Max but the Emerald is designed to read the lanes later with a sharper backend hook while the Max is designed to read more in the midlane for smoother arcing hook.

Question:

How would I drill the storm hy-road MAX for a left handed person

2/27/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

You would just have to let your driller know that you need this set up for a left handed bowler and they can do a layout that will give you the reaction you need. The weight block is symmetric so this can work for both right or left handed bowlers.

Will the Hyroad Max match up good with my Hyroad?

The Hy-Road Max will read the lanes earlier to give you a smoother arcing hook while the Hy-Road is going to read later on the lanes with a stronger backend hook. So if you need two different looks at the same lane conditions then you may like having both options.
