Storm Match Up Black Pearl
Storm has upped their game with the Storm Match Up Black Pearl bowling ball. They have changed up the core from the original Match Pearl ball to offer more flare potential and more hook with the Stinger 2.0 core. The idea behind this change was to get more entry angle and better pin carry. This core is wrapped with Storms successful Reactor coverstock. The finish from the original Match Up Pearl was adjusted to 2000-grit Abralon to allow the ball to handle more oil better.

This ball is actually on the same performance level as the Hustle Ink so it would not be much different in performance. If you wanted a ball to use on drier lanes when the Hustle is too aggressive then you may try an entry performance level ball or even a urethane to give you a noticeable difference.

Just below the weight selection box there is a link that says "Click to request pin/top weight". When you click this it will open a box where you can enter any spec or special instructions that you want for the ball. We will try to find a ball that matches your request and only ship this if it matches what you requested. If we cannot find the specs, we will call you before shipping to go over what we found.

You may prefer to get a ball that has more length on the lanes like a pearl cover or polished finish. This ball has a duller finish so it may not be a good match. You will also need to know what lane conditions you bowl in so you can make sure the ball will work in the lane conditions.

The Match Up will be a great ball for someone just starting out. If your lanes are typically lighter oil conditions this ball will be a great step up from using a house ball. If you were in a league you may be able to step up a little more to a stronger ball but if you are a recreational bowler that goes on open bowling nights this would be a great option.

I normally bowl with a house ball and can’t really get the hook I’m looking for. I’ve been bowling pretty much all my life and having been hooking for the past 4 years. Would this be a good ball for me to upgrade too? Also, I normally bowl with a 10lb ball so will drilling take any weight away from it?

You could move up to this Match Up Black Pearl which will be a significant jump up from a house ball but it will still give you good length and a strong backend hook. If you order a 10lb weight it will normally come with a couple of ounces over 10lbs so that after drilling it will come down to be very close to 10lbs even. You may make a request for specific weight if you would like to in the pin and top weight specs box.
