Storm Parallax

Storm has taken their knack for innovation and applied it to the Storm Parallax high-performance bowling ball. This ball introduces the TractionX7 coverstock in a hybrid version. The TractionX7 combines all of the best features found in Storm's seven most popular coverstocks to date. This coverstock offers durability, backend, slower oil absorption as well as versatility. This dynamic core surrounds the Aeroflo Core. This core features an ellipsed hole that is filled with lighter core material which creates a higher RG than usually found in asymmetric bowling balls. A flip block at the bottom of the core creates a high total differential.

Question:

If I change the surface from 1500 to 4000 and added polish, will it be good for medium oil?

7/8/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Unfortunately I would not recommend this ball for medium oil because the features are too aggressive to work well in medium oil. You may check out something like the Phaze III for medium oil and it would give you a great reaction for those conditions.

Question:

How does this ball compare to the idol pro

7/12/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Storm Parallax is designed to give you more length and have a stronger backend reaction than the Idol Pro which was designed to read more in the midlane and have a smoother arcing hook. The Parallax is also a high performance ball while the Idol Pro is an upper mid performance so this would also give the Parallax a higher hook potential.

Question:

Would this work after a UFO then have a trend after

7/17/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The UFO, Parallax, and Trend all are high performance bowling balls that work in mostly heavy oil conditions. The difference is the length on these options. The UFO would read the earliest more in the midlane. The Trend is made to go the longest but it has the sharpest angle on the backend. And the Parallax fits somewhere in the middle being longer than the UFO but not quite as long as the Trend. I am not sure you would have much need for all three options unless you wanted to have different options for some of the same conditions. The Trend might can work down into some medium oil but it will be so strong on medium oil that you would probably quickly have to transition to another ball shortly after if you were using the Trend as a backup option to your UFO when the UFO was too strong to use. I definitely could not see a need for having all three as options to transition to but rather as different looks at if you wanted to play a different line on heavier oil. Maybe there were a lot of bowlers playing a certain line one night and one of these options could allow you to play more inside or more outside depending on the rest of the people bowling so that would be a good option then.

Question:

best to use this on short, medium or long oil patterns ?

7/20/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The recommended lane condition is heavier oil so it would be strong enough to come back on long oil but it could also work in some medium length conditions if the front and mid of the lanes have a higher volume of oil.

Question:

how does this compare to forge fire ?

7/20/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

They are pretty close in comparison but you may get a little more length out of the Parallax and a slightly stronger backend. Also, the Parallax shows to be strictly for heavy oil while the Motiv Forge Fire shows medium to heavy oil so that may also signify that the Parallax is slightly stronger overall.

Question:

whats the difference between this and the astro physix ?

8/10/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Parallax has a hybrid cover while the AstroPhysix has a pearl cover. Also the weight blocks are different so they can give you a slightly different reaction. The Parallax weight block reacts a little later but also is slightly stronger while the Astrophysic weight block reads a little earlier to give it more time to react. So they are similar overall but have some slight differences in the length.

Question:

How does the parallax compare to the IQ Emerald

9/28/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Parallax is going to have a higher hook potential but both balls will give you good length and a strong backend. Because the Parallax has more hook potential it will also handle more oil better than the IQ Emerald.

Question:

How does this compare to a Halo Pearl for 12-13 mph roll

11/5/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This will be very similar to the Halo Pearl. Both have a 1500 grit polished finish for good length. Both are high performance balls rated to handle heavy oil conditions. The Parallax has a hybrid cover which will read a little earlier than the pearl cover on the Halo Pearl. Also the weight block is a little stronger on the Parallax but not by much. So you really just see a slight difference in the length.

Question:

please compare the Parallax to the Jackal Flash and Omega Crux

11/6/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

These options are going to be very comparable in terms of hook potential but there are a few key differences that will give them a slightly different lengths and reads. If you look at the 3 big factors ( coverstock, finish, core ) your can rate the length that each of these features gives. So 1 would be earliest and 3 is the latest reaction. Parallax cover 1, finish 2, core 3 / Jackal Flash cover 3, finish 3, core 1 / Omega Crux cover 2, finish 1, core 2 . So I think the Jackal Flash gives you the most length, and the Omega Crux reads the earliest of these three with the Parallax being somewhere between the two options in terms of length.

Question:

I'm thinking of purchasing the Parallax. I have Proton, Physics, Crux Prime, Omega Crux, Phaze 2&3, Axiom, and Trend. Which ball will the Parallax replace or is about the same as. I don't want to buy another ball and they're the same.

12/31/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

It is not going to be an exact replacement but it will fit close to the Omega Crux and Trend. It has more length than the Proton Physix or Crux Prime but it may read just a little earlier than the Trend.

Question:

What makes a ball high performance compared to upper mid performance. Like parallax to black widow 2.0

8/26/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

There could be a few different reasons to have one ball marked high performance versus upper mid performance. Some of the reasons would include the hook potential, the lane conditions that the ball works in, the type of weight block, or how new the features are on the ball. If a manufacturer comes out with a brand new type of coverstock and/or weight block then that could make the manufacturer bump it up to a high performance. The Parallax and Widow both have similar features but the Parallax will have a slightly higher hook potential and the Parallax also uses a newer weight block where the Widow uses the Gas Mask core that has been used for a long time throughout the Widow line.

Question:

Would this perform well on a fresh house pattern?

12/7/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Yes, this ball is designed for heavy oil conditions so just after they put down the oil this ball should be able to work in those conditions.

Question:

What ball is better, the storm parallax or the parallax effect?

3/21/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The only difference would be that the Parallax has a hybrid coverstock and the Effect has a Pearl coverstock. So the Parallax will read just slightly earlier and slightly smoother than the Effect which will go slightly later with slightly more angular hook.
