Storm Ride

Ride is just exactly what it is advertised, and what I was looking for. Super controllable ball that lets me square up like I would with urethane, but gives me a bit more continuation. First ball I have thrown in some time that lets me utilize the hold area of a house shot.

This is not a Tropical Breeze...

Drilled 78º x 3.75" x 46º
17MPH / 360RPM / low tilt

First few games were on a burnt short juniors pattern. Layout was clearly too strong in the mid-lane on this lane condition: it hooked early on most shots and hit flat when I managed to get it to the pocket.

38' medium-volume THS was much better. The ball was very clean through front with very smooth, strong and continuous backend motion. No out of bounds or roll-out behavior was observed during the three game set.
The ball hits very hard, even after the lanes begin to break down. I left four 9 pins in two games with it.

I would recommend pin over the bridge (~5" pin>PAP) if you bowl on short patterns, but for medium conditions, a strong pin>PAP and medium VAL angle works very nicely.

Question: What is a modified centripetal core?

3/18/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: A modified centripetal core is the core that Storm uses when the ball gets to the lower weights to give you a similar read to the heavier weight balls.

Question: Can this ball be used if you bowl straight lines (no hook)?

4/22/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hi Jay! While the Storm Ride is not a big hooking ball the core and coverstock are designed to offer hook. You might be able to work with your driller to have this ball drilled in a way that would produce little to no hook, but that is not what the ball was designed to do.

5/2/2016 - By
