- Description: CFT ALPHA-MAX COVERSTOCK - CFT alpha-max is our newest breakthrough in Chemical Friction Technology. The CFT alpha-max coverstock uses a higher concentration of the CFT additive in order to maximize the chemical system. The CFT alpha-max coverstock is the highest friction factor of any Brunswick ball to date. The secret is in the technology which creates more traction with chemical friction instead of mechanical friction. Being able to use less mechanical friction for hook, allows the ball to skid easier through the front part of the lane saving axis rotation for more energy on the backend.
ASYMMETRIC I-BLOCK CORE - The proven Asymmetric I – Block core enhances the CFT alpha-max coverstock to create maximum forgiveness, strong entry angles along with versatile drilling layouts
BALL MOTION - This ball is off the chart! The C·(System) alpha-max is so strong we had to add a column to the Ball Comparison chart and increase our Hook Potential scale to describe the ball motion. With its 4000-grit Siaair micro pad finish, the C·(System) alpha-max offers the highest hook potential of any Brunswick ball to date. The C·(System) alpha-max skids effortlessly through the front, saving axis rotation in the mid-lane to grab the backend for strong response to friction and cuts easily through the pins.
REACTION SETUP - The C·(System) alpha-max can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for asymmetric bowling balls.
LIGHTWEIGHT ENGINEERING - The unique core shape of each Brunswick ball is used for weights from 14 to 16 pounds. This approach to lightweight ball engineering provides bowlers with consistent ball reaction characteristics across this weight range. The same drilling instructions can be used for 12- and 13-pound balls. This is because Brunswick uses a generic core shape with an RG differential that is close enough to the 14-16 pound shape.

Even stronger than I imagined By BrunsWolf from Jonesboro, AR
Reviewed on: 2/7/2011
Verified Reviewer Pros:Perfect for oily lanes, Great reaction, Hits hard, Great carry Best Uses:Heavy oil, Longer patterns, Tournaments Describe Yourself:Pro Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Brunswick C-System Alpha Max Bowler Stats: Speed: 18.5 mph Rev Rate: 425 rpm Tilt: 12 degrees Rotation: 40 degrees Layout: 50* by 4.5" by 50* (Semi-small P1 hole to make it legal) Conditions bowled on: 39' THS, USBC White #2, 2007 Shark Purpose: I drilled my first one a little tame because I was actually afraid of this ball being "too strong" for me. I was really happy with the midlane read I got from a tame drilling so naturally my curiosity took over and I thought "How much could I really make this ball hook". I knew I kinda needed a new ball to sit at the top of the arsenal in hook potential so I thought I'd try it. I took my favorite layout and reduced the pin distance to 4.5" (the closest pin distance to leverage that I'm comfortable with) On the lanes: DISCLAIMER: THIS BALL FREAKIN' HOOKS!!! As soon as I first threw the ball, I began questioning why I have so much hand in the first place. Starting out on my 39' THS, I had to play 5th arrow on the fresh to even keep this ball on the right side of the head pin. It didn't take long for me to seek out a more voluminous pattern to throw this beast on. The USBC White #2 at 50uL per board felt like a flood in comparison (41', 27-ish mL of oil overall). I was surprised at how tight this pattern played on the fresh. I was able to throw the Alpha Max and normal speed and a normal release starting at a laydown of 19 out to 7 at the breakpoint. This may not seem like that much area covered on the lane, but it's huge when you compare it to the 8 boards it outhooked the Loaded Revolver and the 9 boards overall it outhooked the Wicked Siege. Compared to both the Wicked and the Loaded Revolver, the Alpha Max more than held its own in both the midlane and the backend. I have to say that I absolutely loved the pin action this ball produces. This ball really keeps the pins low, an attribute that all of the C-System balls have had for me. As most of you know, keeping pins low = better carry. As I kept moving in, the Alpha Max kept cornering and kept carrying, regardless of the huge puddle of oil in the middle part of the lane. Needless to say, I was able to play deeper on this pattern than anyone else. I finally got to throw it on a more voluminous pattern, but now I wanted to throw it on a longer one. Moving to the 2007 Shark, I knew this ball wouldn't hook the whole lane, but I still knew it would outhook anything I have ever thrown on Shark variations. Remember that this pattern is before they decided to completely flood out the lane from 8 to the gutter. With regular speed, I had a great look playing a tight line of laying the ball down on 20 out to 12 at the breakpoint. The ball still hit hard and kept the pins low despite having only a little bit of lane to make its move. After a little experimenting, I also found good lines to the pocket by slow hooking 5th arrow out to about 12 at the break point as well as playing up the 3 board. With the line around 5th arrow, the ball was able to push downlane and still have a strong recovery to get back to the pocket to trip out some 10 pins. When playing up the gutter, the strong cover was able to pick up slightly earlier with the less volume on that part of the lane. The Alpha Max provided a great, continuous roll throughout the entire lane with this line and hit with some serious authority. Conclusions: In case you haven't noticed yet, THIS BALL HOOKS!!! If you need a ball to handle heavy patterns, a ball to handle long patterns, a ball to just flat out hook back from practically anywhere, then look no further than the C-System Alpha Max. If I had to venture I guess, it hooks about 5 boards more on average than the C-System 3.5, the most aggressive ball I've thrown until now. This is the ball for you if you are looking for something that will outhook everything else in your bag but still have an unparalleled ball reaction with tremendous carry. Better than I imagined!!!! WOW!! By Nitro39 from Lompoc, Ca.

Verified Reviewer Pros:Flawless Surface, Great Weight, Great reaction, Great carry Best Uses:Local Bowling Alley, Medium to heavy oil, Tournaments, Upgrade Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Due to severe back problems I had to put my 16 pound balls away and find a lighter ball that would still give me the reaction and carry that my other balls would. I dropped down to 14 pounds with this alpha max, and to my surprise I have better pin reaction and carry than any of my stronger higher weighted balls. This balls goes long and breaks hard on the heaviest oil conditions. As the lanes dry up I take a little hand out of the ball and it still hits strong into game 3. On dryer conditions this ball tend to break a little to early and you need to know when to put it away. Brunswick with their new Chemical Friction Technology has come a long way. I would seriously recommend this ball to anyone. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

Bowled a 716 series with my Alpha Max By Big Dave from Bronx, NY
Reviewed on: 6/28/2011
Verified Reviewer Pros:Pro Quality, Attractive Design, Innovative strikes, Great Weight, Flawless Surface, Stays true, Comfortable Grip, Powerful Best Uses:Local Bowling Alley, Tournaments, Upgrade Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend The ball is comfortable, easy to use and amazing. Alpha Max "swims" in heavy oil, medium oil, light oil, and flattens the pins. This ball hits HARD, even if you're not throwing it that way. I made a recommendation before, and let me say here and now: it is the BEST ball that I have ever purchased. I went from a 170 average to a 192 average inside of a week. After having the Alpha Max ball for two months, I can see steady improvement in the consistency and trust. Now I know how to make spares, such as the 10-pin with no problems at all. The oil will hold the Alpha Max in place, much as tracks hold a railroad train in place. You aim it anywhere, and it will hit effectively. With this ball, you can trust it to even make the trickiest shots, from a baby split (4-5) to a much more difficult split (6-7). Just a week ago, I scored my first Seven Hundred Series (716) in three games, and this is why my average shot up 22 points inside of a week! As I continue to work on my game, and strengthen my sparemaking capability, the Alpha Max will become even more important and impressive. The highest scores I've made since I've bowled has been a 277, 265 and 258. It definitely gives a bowler the competitive edge. Very happy I purchased the Alpha Max, and so will you. My next target: 300 game, and an 800 series. Neither of these two goals are unreasonable, thanks to the Alpha Max Ball. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

The Alpha Max Gets better and better By IGFET2288 from Bronx, New York
Reviewed on: 5/17/2011
Verified Reviewer Pros:Comfortable Grip, Attractive Design, Flawless Surface, Great Weight Best Uses:Local Bowling Alley, Upgrade Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend When I first bought the Alpha Max a month ago, I was intrigued. I heard that it made incredible shots. All I had to do was to lay it down on a line and let it go, you know? Almost what I'd term an "electric ball" : you'd wind it up and it does wonders. Well you know what? It is very close to that. If you throw this ball correctly, it navigates heavy and medium oil and it hits the pocket HARD. It hits standard strikes, Brooklyn strikes, and strikes that have no description. I mean the Alpha Max really works well for you. All you need to do is select a line, throw it with medium speed, and it does the rest. I have news for you: even when there's a ton of oil out there and a light speed is required, the Alpha Max ball hits the back end HARD. I would not recommend it to beginners because the Alpha Max may overwhelm a beginner. But if you are a well-practiced bowler, with experience and control, you'll love this ball. It's a great investment, and a fine addition to your bowling equipment. I highly recommend it! ** I'll tell you one more thing: just this past Sunday, in a quasicompetitive situation, the Alpha Max earned scores from 187, 191, 267 and 242! Those are awesome scores, and not every strike was perfect. Quite a few -- I had 29 strikes out of 41 marks in 4 games with only 4 open frames (3 of which were splits) -- were of the "lucky" variety. But the Alpha Max gives you the "luck" you need to go far. I really, truly, highly endorse this purchase. You won't regret it. :) Was this review helpful to you? Worthwhile upgrade By Incom from KCMO
Reviewed on: 1/30/2012
Verified Reviewer Bottom Line: I decided to rejoin a league after a two year hiatus (164 book avg.) and continued to use my old RotoGrip Cell. I was displeased with the way it acted down the lane and decided to upgrade. At the time the AlphaMax was offered with a $50.00 mail in rebate, which made the decision easy. I had the ball drilled (don't have the specs on hand) with an additional weight hole and have been exceedingly pleased with the results. Prior to the AlphaMax I was averaging 173 with a HSG of 234 and a HSS of 632. Using the AlphaMax I'm now averaging 184 (to date), with 195 only using the AlphaMax; my new HSG is 290 and a HSS a 724. The last four weeks I'm averaging 225 / game. The upside potential I seem to have with this ball is quite a thrill - though the other teams always give me some flak about my 'low' book average; sucks to be them... I throw near the 27th board and average 16.50 - 17.00 mph. I'm very pleased with the arc and backend on the ball. If they offered another mail in rebate I would buy this ball again without hesitation. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

Many years!!! Many of the great bowler in Northwest IN pass on Brunswick. A lot of Storm, Hammer, MoRich, Lane 1, Columbia and some Brunswick bowlers here. These R all great bowling companies!!! This is my 2nd year of learning the hook shot in bowling. I learned early and very young to throw the ball straight down the line in to the pocket. I started bowling when I was 10-18 throwing the ball straight. I did not pick up a ball and bowled in a league since 18. Bowl two years in leagues throwing straight sucked much of u know what!! Return in 2009 determine to learn the hook. 1st year equipment ultra zone, siege, C 3.5!!! This me learning cause everyone that is a killer stoke the hell out these balls!!! I went from a 128 straight ball to a 149 hook. This year equipment C 3.5, C 4.5, Siege, Plaque,Alpha-Max. Started out rough early this year. Very rough!!! The Plaque, c3.5, and Siege has carried me this year. Im at 159 before the Alpha-Max. Finally getting to the point. The last 3 week with this beast is unreal. I've been nothing but dead lock on with ball. 1st week I bowl a 596, next week 657, 3rd week 705. This ball does not quit!!! Machine!!! I've learned alot and I thank the ones for pointing me in the right direction. CAUTION: Results not typical. By G-Man from Wichita Falls, TX
Reviewed on: 5/17/2012
Verified Reviewer Pros:Attractive Design Best Uses:Tournaments, Local Bowling Alley Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line: Yes, this ball does not perform like other typical balls. This is my first Brunswick pro-level ball and I really didn't have any preconceived notions about what to expect. But from the first league night after drilling this ball up, I was truly impressed and amazed at it's navigation through the oily fresh pattern to get the break point. And then....WOW...POW...WHAM (add your own Batman color commentary here if you see this ball drive home the meat!) It's reaction to the back end traction lets this ball explode the pocket like a cannonball! And I've found that my 10-pen carry is better. Oh sure, I leave a few rock solid ringing 10's where the 6 pin literally flies to the wall so hard and fast that it sometimes just wraps around the 10 pin at about 75 mph. But for the most part, it carries 10's - with very few "soft" 10 leaves like some other balls that can seem to turn the corner to the pocket, but then lose the mid-pin drive in the rack and let the 6 pin just lay down in the gutter. The energy in this core's block just seems to alleviate the corner pin problems. I'm having more strike strings - 4, 5, 6-baggers with the C-System.......and my league average is up over 10 pins, into the 215-220 range. The other numbers that matter have also resulted in (3) 700+ series and most series lately have been 650 - 700......so many nights I'm hitting about a 225 pace. When this ball plows the pocket and starts throwing head pins off the left wall, decapitating the 7-pin, and then left spinning on the deck like a carnival ride.....all this immediately following the THUNDEROUS explosion of it's impact in the pocket. Well, when the guys 3 or 4 lanes over can't help but look to see where the bomb went off - they look up to see my lane's pins demolished off the deck and the sweep left to do nothing but scrape away any minor remaining debris! And for a ball to really work a 200+ average up by this much really speaks to how it continues to work in my league sets - first to last game, almost exclusively. I just make some minor adjustments to the oil breakdown and carry-down through the set to let this ball find the right track to the break point and it does the rest. Plus it's added up with better 1st-ball pin counts and lower split counts per set. All the numbers point to higher games, series, and average. I recommend this ball whole-heartedly - for intermediate bowlers as well as advanced bowlers. It can and will bring your game up with consistent performance.....with the consistency and trust that you'll get by throwing this ball week after week. Your confidence game improves, as well as a true improvement in the actual mathematically physical game of pin crushing! Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.
