- Description: The success of the Cell series continues to grow, and so does the technology involved the the newest edition. The signature touch to the line has been its continuous motion and versatility. This stems from the Nucleus core and its unique shape. This asymmetrical part maintains its dynamic integrity and differential value after drilling better than any other ball on the market. Our intent was to utilize this same premise in the newly designed Nucleus II core. We have strategically removed mass along the axes of the core to increase the intermediate differential or mass bias strength. This translates into a quicker revving part along with increased motion potential down the lane. The final touch is the utilization of the Cytoplasmic XL solid reactive coverstock. This second generation coverstock has an extreme amount of surface topography (Ra value). This means more friction from foul line through the pin deck. The Evolution of Technology has Mutated!

Hard hitter By JVS257 from Port St. Lucie, FL.
Reviewed on: 2/3/2010
Verified Reviewer Pros:Attractive Design Best Uses:Upgrade Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Well, I was struggling to maintain a high 220+ average, just couldn't consistently get the big games. I tried another bowlers Cell and liked the reaction, so I purchased a Mutant Cell, hit it with just a little polish and off I went. On Dec.8, I shot 299 and 805 in my first league set with the Mutant, and haven't looked back since. I raised my average to 235 with the help of this balls great hitting power, as it is clean through the heads and doesn't stop once it makes the turn. I was carrying tens pins that should have never fell, and ripping the rack on light hits. Heck, even tripped a few 4 pins. I have found that with my ball speed(higher) that slightly dulled the Mutant is clean down the lane with plenty left. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

Verified Reviewer Pros:Comfortable Grip, Attractive Design, Flawless Surface, Great Weight Best Uses:Local Bowling Alley Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I drilled my Mutant this afternoon feb 16, and played 4 series just to try it out. I'm not a pro my averaged is 190 i the league I did 832 without any effort at least thats how I experienced it. My layout on the ball is a Roto-Grip standard 4 inch pin from pap 1.5 inch thumbhole from massbios as it is shown in their layout chart for asymmetric balls. It worked out well for me I thought the roll was consistent with a twist in the backend supernice. I love this ball already. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

I bought it before league play and bowled with it in league. Results were great 277-252-236=765. The ball hits great and carried light hits as well. Another great ball from Roto Grip. I also have the Cell Pearl and the Rogue Cell. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

You can never fail with the Cell line!!! By MU-The Amp from Lakewood NJ
Reviewed on: 1/7/2010
Verified Reviewer Pros:Comfortable Grip, Flawless Surface, Great Weight, Attractive Design Best Uses:Upgrade, Local Bowling Alley, Tournaments Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend This is the second bowling ball I have received from Monmouth University's sponsorship, and once again, Roto Grip has delivered. In order to compliment my Original Cell (see review), i got my Mutant drilled with Mo's famous double-thumb layout, Pin 4" from my PAP above the bridge with a balance hole through the RG placed 1 1/2" away from the thumb. The ball is meant to hook out of the building and that is exactly what it does. When I go to a college tournament and the lanes are flooded, I find myself playing through the fresh heads with this ball with ease as the ball reads the lanes and bites hard almost as if I were bowling on a typical house pattern (no joke). The reputation of aggression that the Cell line has holds true with its newest edition, the Mutant Cell. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

I am USUALLY just a right up the second arrow kinda guy, but this ball makes me look like a PRO!!! The way I was swinging it I was amazed. Its like it had a magnet right to the pocket and crushed it. The only problem I had was after the first game the oil was gone so I had to move left even more.Just dont be afraid keeping moving left IT WILL COME BACK.ALL IN ALL I CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK ON THE LANES. Nice Ball Reaction By RJ from Palm Beach Gardens, FL
Reviewed on: 3/9/2010
Verified Reviewer Best Uses:Local Bowling Alley Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I would recommend shining the surface of the ball to avoid over reaction. I have a high rev rate and tend to throw the ball pretty fast. A little slower speed and this ball definitely gets the pin reaction you want. Make sure you clean the oil off the ball after bowling because it tends to absorb alot during use and loses a bit of its reaction down the lane. Other than that, great ball! ROTO FLAW By DnTMac from Colorado Springs, Co
Reviewed on: 3/29/2010
Verified Reviewer Cons:No reaction, Worst ball ever by Roto, Doesn't like oil or dry Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:No, I would not recommend this to a friend After reading several reviews, I decided to give this ball a try. I only throw roto equipment, carry a 218 average, and this is the biggest disappointment I have come across. I have two mutants; one drilled 5X3 with a 3 inch pin buffer and the other is drilled 4X4 with a 2 inch pin buffer. Regardless of the lane conditions, this ball just will NOT move at all. Maybe its the curse of the lefty, but this is the only Roto ball that I have ever been disappointed in. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

I shined it out of the box and wow, never had a ball so easy to rev and hit so well. I have never really had a big game with any ball out of the box but had a 300 with this one after only 12 games. Amazing move to the pocket By youth coach from St Lucie, Fl
Reviewed on: 11/20/2009
Verified Reviewer Best Uses:Upgrade, Local Bowling Alley Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I received my ball yesterday and had it drilled and rolled a couple games with it. I was so impressed with the motion, I couldn't keep a smile off my face. A good number of people stopped and watched me roll the ball, then had a lot of people asking what I was throwing and wanted to see my layout. The ball is very clean on the front, and makes a very predictable move to the pocket at the break point. I could miss 2-3 boards and the ball recovered really well. I tried moving left, then left some more, and was on 15 from the left with my feet, throwing 15 on right, out to 3-5 on the right, and the ball just read the pocket flawlessly. I am a tweener, not a cranker, and I have never been able to throw that line. I moved right, standing at the center dot, throwing straight up 7 and the ball still made a predictable move to the pocket. Needless to say, my local pro shop owner booked a few sales of that ball yesterday! Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

Verified Reviewer Pros:Great midlane reaction, Great Weight, Flawless Surface, Comfortable Grip Cons:None Best Uses:Long oil, Tournaments Describe Yourself:Pro Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend The Mutant Cell is the strongest of the line to date. This ball has about 3-5 more boards hook than the original cell. This ball has a great move in the mid lane and a continuous strong back end. I had mine drilled with the pin next to the fingers with the mass bias to the right of the thumb and a weight hole. This is a great ball for medium to heavy oil. This is the first ball I've had that people are coming to my lane and taking it to use during league play. This ball plays best for me if there is some oil in the heads to get through the front of the lane. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

Soon after though I found this ball to lose its surface and become a spare ball unless I slowed my speed a couple of miles per hour. No matter what I tried to do including changing surface back to factory finish and trying a different layout, I did not find this ball to give me the same reaction on the lanes or pin action in general. This ball does remain great for people with slower ball speeds, but for those of you who throw it above 17 or 18 mph, use it wisely! Was this review helpful to you? I got my ball in the mail yesterday, had it drilled and bowled 201, 212, 231 & 244 for a 222 average. I ordered the 16 pound ball and only had one split and was tapped twice in 4 games. I've been averaging 2-4 taps per game and at least 1 split per game for the last 6 months. GREAT BALL. I'm ready to join a league again. Was this review helpful to you? I've even started picking up a few tough splits with the extra ball movement through the finish. I've had it for 3 days now, bowled 12 games and averaged 223. I haven't stopped smiling for 3 days. Unverified Cons:Flaws In Surface Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:No, I would not recommend this to a friend This has to be one of the worst balling balls I have ever thrown. Ball hooked a ton out of the box within 30 games the ball stopped hooking. I've cleaned the ball the way rotogrip says it has to be cleaned and still can't get it to hook. Very disappointed in this ball Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.

Verified Reviewer Pros:Flawless Surface, Great Weight, Comfortable Grip Cons:Ugly Graphics Best Uses:Tournaments, Local Bowling Alley Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend When I purchased the Mutant Cell I was looking for something with an aggressive backend into the pocket and that is exactly what I got. Threw 249 my very first time rolling it on a medium oil house shot. When you hit you mark with this ball, it comes hard at the pins like they gave it a dirty look...big mistake on their part. Great heavy oil ball By Still Looking for 8 from Chandler, AZ
Reviewed on: 6/19/2010
Verified Reviewer Pros:Flawless Surface, Great Weight, Comfortable Grip Best Uses:Tournaments, Local Bowling Alley Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I just drilled this ball a week ago. Great continuation through the oil. A bit strong in the midlane, but that's what most bowlers need on the long heavy oil patterns. Ok to use on a house shot, might want to change the surface a bit though. Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No- You may also flag this review.
