Increasing Accuracy with Aggressive Bowling

Whenever you watch a professional bowler, you will not see them throw a shot that is not aggressive. They don’t throw cautiously or fail to follow through on every shot. The shape and distance of the follow through rarely fluctuates, however the speed might.

Many times we allow lane conditions to take our game away from us. We start to get a little more cautious and begin to aim/fit/steer the ball to the pocket, all of which are a disaster in terms of carry and confidence. It has become much easier to have a free arm swing and a confident shot when you've got three or more boards to hit. When you follow through, good things happen to off-hits.

Controlling your speed is the most difficult of all adjustments because it dramatically affects your timing. You always want to have a ball in your hand and play an area of the lane that allows you to be aggressive. An aggressive swing and demeanor don't give you time to aim or fit or steer the ball, which is a good thing.

Slowing down your arm swing is one of the biggest opponents of good shot-making and carry. Accelerating the arm swing from around your back pocket out toward the pins is crucial. When you try it, you will possibly feel that your swing is out of control, and it won’t be accurate. Then when you let the ball go, it travels over your target, your speed is increased and your carry will improve. The more you practice, the easier it will become! You will become more accurate, and the pins seem to move around the deck more.
