- DESCRIPTION: The pearl RAPTOR ATTACK is the first asymmetric pearl ball ever released by MOTIV. Utilizing Atomix SFP Reactive cover technology, the Raptor Attack is very long and clean down the lane with a fast response to friction on the backend. On sport shots, it dominates when heavy oil patterns break down and transition. On the THS, bowlers with moderate to high rev rates will be able to swing the ball with confidence, seeing an impressive backend move as the Raptor Attack sinks its talons into the lane. The Raptor Attack utilizes the proven Predator inner core, which was first used in the Raptor P7. It revs very easy with a 2.46 RG and makes an aggressive move by utilizing the .060 primary differential and .015 intermediate. The shelf appeal of the Raptor Attack is just as impressive as the performance. The purple pearl and black pearl shell provide a gorgeous background for the green pearl and silver pearl NeoMark graphics.

Reviewed on: 2/26/2012 Unverified Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Raptor Attack The Raptor Attack is the first asymmetric pearl ball ever released by MOTIV. This new release is the extreme opposite from its predecessor. The Raptor Attack uses the Primal Impulse cover and the core from the original Raptor. The Raptor Attack is clean through the front part of the lane and makes a very angular motion in the backend. As you will see in the video the Raptor Attack can recover and recover some more. There wasn't a shot thrown where a miss right resulted in the ball not being able to make it back to the pocket. The Raptor Attack will be strong enough for some players to throw on heavy patterns and yet still clean enough for some players to throw on broken down or shorter patterns. This is not one of those conditional balls, for me this ball has worked successfully on all conditions thus far. Most will be able to throw this one from start to finish and you can't say that very often about a pearlized ball. The Raptor Attack is the first asymmetrical pearl ball from MOTIV. It is a low RG ball (2.46) with a maxed out high differential (0.60). My Raptor Attack is drilled up with a relatively mild layout - 85* x 5 x 40*, which is one I like for my ball speed, track, and rev rate. But, with the really strong core this ball has, you can really make this ball do tricks down the lane with a more aggressive layout, if you wish. My favorite time to use this ball is just after a heavy oil pattern breaks down a little and transitions a bit, The pearl cover helps this ball clear the heads with ease, then react decisively down the lane when I need it to. It doesn't really have a "flip" motion down the lane, it's more of an "aggressive turn" towards the pocket. I didn't anticipate that this ball would be as versatile as it is. I have been able to utilize this piece on a variety of lane conditions – it stores energy very well. Also I am very impressed with how this ball clears the pins, nice and low. Reviewed on: 3/9/2012 Unverified Best Uses:Local Bowling Alley Describe Yourself:League Bowler Bottom Line:No, I would not recommend this to a friend League bowler with 202 avg at 2 separate alleys. Defiantly a ball that hooks but do not buy into the hype about great in oily lanes as it slides just like every other ball. I consistently leave a pin in the back row on pocket shots to the point that it's about 50/50 if it will be a strike or spare. Does not hit the pocket with power which leads me to believe that it losses it's power going down the lane given the midlane turn. I stopped using due to carry issues and found that its best use is in 9 pin tourneys. Look elsewhere for a ball with more pocket power and better carry. Was this review helpful to you? Its been much easier to string together multiple strikes, the consistency to the pocket is unlike any ive seen (previously used Hammer Taboo). I can miss my mark and itll find its way back...HOWEVER I will say the ball does often leave the 10 pin...what seems like a perfect shot can leave a 10. The pearlized shell gives me the added length I need when the lanes begin to transition but adds some additional angle allowing me more room right as the lanes break down. The biggest additon in my mind is the continuation provided through the pins helping take out those ever nasty corner pins. This ball fits well and will provided you another weapon on the typical house shot as well as other challenging lane conditions as it allow you the ability to play straight up the boards early and swing it as they transition with out sacarificing carry or dealing with an over/under reaction. The New Raptor Attack brings back the asymmetrical core from the original Raptor with the Atomix SFP Reactive Pearl coverstock from the Primal Impulse. The Combination of these two materials is potentially deadly to the pins and your competition. The Attack is very smooth in the front part of the lane, but that does not affect the overall hook of the ball. Depending on how this ball is laid out and can provide you with several different options on the lanes. I personally drilled one to get down the lane with some length and then make a big move on the back end. To compliment this piece I drilled another one to hook earlier and create more overall hook. First reactions were good, but after knocking a little polish off, this ball became a beast. Still very clean like the primal impulse, but the overall hook rivals that of the Raptor, and anything I have seen being thrown on the lanes today. This ball is definitely a step up in performance from the Primal Impulse and would fit nicely when your Raptor starts to get a little jumpy. The Raptor Attack features the proven Predator inner core wrapped around the Atomix SFP (skid flip pearl) coverstock. This core features a 2.46 RG, a .060 differential, and a perfectly balanced .015 intermediate differential. As MOTIV's first pearlized asymmetrical release, this ball will strike with a vengeance! I have drilled two Raptor Attacks to date. The first Raptor Attack I drilled 60 x 4.5 x 55 (pin drilled out, ring) and the second 55 x 5 x 40 (hole at P1.5, pin above the bridge) respectively. My pin drilled out Raptor Attack is great when the lanes are tough, and I need to tighten up my angles, and my pin up Raptor Attack allows me to get in and strike for days. In comparison to other balls in the line. It is longer, with a greater response to friction than the Sigma Tour, and more mid lane and angle than a Primal Impulse. Coming out of the box at 2000 and Power Gel Polish, the ball rolls great without polish as well! Bowlers who are struggling when the front part of the lane begins to go, transition, or looking for a ball stronger off the spot during league, the Raptor Attack is your ball! When My Raptor P7 is too early and the Sigma doesn't want to climb the hill this ball is PERFECT!! I did a simple pin up no hole and this ball is clean through the fronts but still reads the midlane and doesn't go through the spot. For league bowlers this is the exact shape you want to see. As for more competetive bowlers this ball is great when you can open up your angles and other products are fighting themselves to make the corner this ball is PEELING! I love the Primal Impulse, so this ball is even cleaner through the front part of the lane for me, even when they are fried. I had a great 1-2 punch in the men's city tournament last weekend using these 2 balls on the burn. When the Impulse would not allow me to get in as deep as I needed to, I was able to move in zones with the Raptor Attack and carry the corners. This ball performed well on the USBC National shot also. My ball speed is around 15+ and a medium rev rate compared to others allowed me a better angle of attack. I'm a senior bowler, so having a ball that allows me to move in zones is fantastic. I drilled this ball 2X2 stacked no weight hole and this lay out smoothed the ball off the friction for me. Don't get me wrong, this ball is strong with GREAT down lane motion. This ball retains it's energy, pounds pins with really good carry, and very clean through the heads. By wrapping the Predator (2.46 RG, .060 Diff) in the Atomix SFP Pearl Reactive coverstock (finished to 2000 with polish) you will retain the great revving motion of the Raptor P7 while getting the ball to push further down the lane and creating a stronger backend reaction. I decided to lay this ball out relatively weak when compared to my P7 because I wanted the ball to definitively make it through the heads and save its energy for a strong and continuous finish, and that is what I obtained. Even though the mass bias is placed in a weak position for me, the Predator still creates 5"-6" of flare every time I release the ball. The ball roll created by that flare has given me a firm midlane revving reaction that helps it to push through any carry down and drive through the pins like a beast. I have found that this ball reaction is a great compliment to both the P7 and the Sigma Tour. When the lanes are a little too dry to throw the P7, but still too slick for the Sigma to read early enough, the Attack fills that role perfectly.
