Brunswick Combat Hybrid
Brunswick Combat Hybrid
Brunswick advances the Combat line with the new Combat Hybrid, a tactical evolution built for bowlers who need stronger midlane traction and a more assertive overall motion. By introducing the Alpha Premier Hybrid coverstock, a non-HK22 formulation, Combat Hybrid creates enhanced traction in oil while preserving the predictable continuation that defined the original Combat. The familiar Rampart asymmetric core returns, now paired with a 2000 grit finish to read the midlane earlier and more aggressively, producing a heavier roll and relentless continuation through the pins.
Combat Hybrid was designed as a true step up from the original, delivering a similar motion shape with added strength, traction, and presence on tougher lane conditions. When transition forces you to control the lane without sacrificing continuation, this ball stands out as a dependable scoring option. With one of Brunswick’s strongest core and cover combinations, high traction performance for oilier conditions or lower rev rate players, and a reaction shape strength rated at 94, Combat Hybrid offers powerful yet controlled motion.
This release also features Durability Optimization Technology, a patent-pending advancement that enhances long-term performance, along with DynamiCore2 outer core technology. Building on Brunswick’s DynamiCore evolution, DynamiCore2 delivers thick shell hitting power, improved durability, and enhanced pin carry for maximum confidence shot after shot.

What do bowlers say about the Brunswick Combat Hybrid?
Midlane Control You Can Trust
The first thing bowlers mention is midlane control. The Combat Hybrid blends the pattern from front to back. It cuts down that over-under look on league shots. You get a read you can trust before the ball ever sees the backend.
Still Finishes Strong When You Move In
Most big asyms fade when you get deep. This one doesn't. Bowlers say they can chase the pattern inside and still see shape. It holds energy instead of leaving flat tens. That's why it stays in the hand longer than other strong pieces.
Strong, Smooth, and Hits Hard
Bowlers like the shape they see. It's strong and smooth, with real hitting power. Some call it an earlier Alert. It creates the motion from the right part of the lane, not a wild snap you can't time.
Earlier and Smoother Than the Original Combat
Bowlers who own the original Combat notice the step up. This hybrid reads about two feet sooner and rolls smoother. The two complement each other well. Start with the Hybrid, then move to the original when the lanes open up.
Works on Fresh and After Transition
Bowlers use it on fresh oil and after the lanes change. One shot a 783 the first week out of the box. Don't be afraid to go to war with it.
What's the Verdict?
Bowlers give the Combat Hybrid five stars. They like the midlane control, the smooth strength, and the way it still finishes when they move inside. If you need a big ball that doesn't quit, this is the one they're recommending.

What customers say:
Bowlers say the Combat Hybrid gives midlane control, blends over-under, and still finishes strong when they move inside. They call it stronger and smoother than the original Combat, with a shape that hits hard. Most would use it as the first-out piece on fresh or tougher oil.

Better than the original Combat!
The Brunswick Combat Hybrid is one of those bigger asym balls that still finish strong. I drilled mine 30x4x30 as I needed a strong hybrid with some surface. The Combat Hybrid did not disappoint. Bowling on Stone Street, which can force you inside quick due to the lower volume, I was able to chase the pattern inside and stay with the Combat Hybrid deeper than I can with most asyms before I started leaving flat tens. Usually once I start getting deep with asyms they lose too much energy for my likes, but not this one! It is most likely going to make my Nationals bag. Don't be afraid to go to war with the Combat Hybrid! Jermey Wolfe Team Brunswick Regional Staff PBA Member

Brunswick Combat Hybrid
The Brunswick Combat Hybrid, most importantly for me passes the eye test. It creates a shape I like to see, and it does it from the right part of the lane. It has the new Alpha Premier Hybrid coverstock which I believe is a little smoother than bowling balls with HK22 based covers. I see it as an earlier Alert. Strong and smooth with hitting power.

Mid lane control
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Combat Hybrid is midlane control. With these patterns that we are seeing these days, mid lane control is very important. It blends the pattern very well front to back and pretty much eliminates that over under reaction I often see on my league patterns. It's a significant difference to the original Combat as I see it a good 2 feet sooner and smoother. The 2 compliment each other very well. I don't get alot of use out of the top of the line "big" strong balls as I bowl on alot of older surfaces. Im able to use this Combat hybrid as my "Big" ball to start then transition into the original Combat.
