Ebonite Turbo X

Ebonite Turbo X Introducing the Ebonite Turbo X – a legend reborn for today’s game. Inspired by the first-ever reactive ball from Ebonite, the Turbo X takes a classic design and supercharges it with modern technology. At its heart is the original, no-frills Turbo core—kept intentionally simple for reliability—but now paired with DynamiCore for enhanced strength and performance. This new build delivers stronger core dynamics to thrive on today’s demanding lane conditions. The biggest evolution? A powerful fusion of the GB 10.7 Solid coverstock and the HK22 base, giving the Turbo X a bold, controlled motion with next-level consistency. This isn’t just a throwback—it’s a timeless performer made for the modern bowler.

Modernized Classic with Updated Coverstock and Original Core Shape

Updated HK 22 Coverstock, Modernized Classic with Controlling, Predictable Hook that cover most Lane Conditions. Drilled 40 x 5 x 40 this Ball Clears the heads, with Angular motion at Breakpoint. Retains the original core shape through the midlane with enough energy to provide great backend hook. A Benchmark Classic that is usually First out of my bag on typical House shot conditions. I find this ball also useful on dryer patterns, by moving right and playing up the lane when they start to get a bit "hooky" in the track area (around board 10). If your looking to cut down the Hook Angle, this ball would be good for you. A "GO TO BALL" for Sure!

Turbo X is Back and Better than Ever!

After a 30-year hiatus, the Turbo X is back and better than ever! The original version of the Turbo X was very clean through the fronts and smooth off the spot, giving bowlers more predictability and consistency down lane. The out of box surface of 1500, finished with Factory Compound making this ball better for medium and lighter oil conditions. I personally have adjusted my surfaces to 1000, then 2000 to get a little more bite, while maintaining a smooth and predictable roll down lane. The layout in this ball is 60x4.5x30, giving me a little bit more versatility if I am going up the boards or have to move inside and open the lanes up. If you were old enough to throw the original Turbo X, then the new Turbo X is a must have in your bag!

Ebonite Turbo X

Many, many moons ago I was bowling in a US Open qualifier. Circa 1992. I was wrenching on my favorite Blue Hammer and could barely get it to wrinkle. A gentleman on the pair next to me was throwing the first ever Reactive bowling ball, the Ebonite Turbo X. Long story short, he won the tournament by a lot, and everyone was scrambling to buy a Turbo X. I drilled the new version recently and it has quickly become one of my favorite pieces. It is very clean through the fronts and mids and has a strong rounded motion down lane. Much like the 1992 version, it strikes a lot. It passes the eye test. I like it

Ebonite Turbo X

I've had a chance to punch a couple of the new Turbo X remakes by Ebonite. Back in the day, notwithstanding how popular they were, I had never drilled one. So, I was quite eager to drill the remake Turbo X. The Turbo X features the same symmetrical Turbo core found in the original. The coverstock has been updated to handle today's oils/volumes. The remake Turbo X features a purple solid GB 10.7 solid cover with the HK-22 base. Box surface is 1500 Siaair finished with Factory Compound. The Turbo X featured in the video here has a 50 x 4 x 25 layout. I've tried it on fresh and leftover THS as well as fresh 2025 PBA Shark (with an obvious surface adjustment) The stated goal was to recreate the original Turbo X motion for today's conditions. Ebonite was seeking to create a quicker response piece for medium to lighter volumes. I honestly have no basis for comparison to the original. So, I can only judge the remake Turbo X based on what I see in the present. That being said, I was very impressed with what I saw. Our lane surface, given its age and condition, has tons of built in friction. Yet, the Turbo X glides through the front and does show a quick downlane response with the ball splitting the 8-9 going through the pins. So, for medium to lighter volume patterns or broken down patterns at box surface, the Turbo X is absolutely in play. However, I also got to try the Turbo X on our PBA sport league pattern for practice, fresh 2025 version of Shark. As the Turbo X was the only ball I had with me, I had to find a way to make it work. Interestingly, with an aggressive surface prep coupled with my lower ball speed, the Turbo X looked really good on Shark! I was pleasantly surprised as I wasn't sure the core/cover would match up on a longer, high volume sport pattern. The Turbo X reminds me of a Hammer Vibe (and most know how much I loooooove Vibes ) but with a little stronger, more responsive cover. In the end, I truly like what I see with the Turbo X and they have already earned a place in my bags. The Ebonite Turbo X is now released and readily available. Question:

I throw with speed 16. 5 or higher, will this be a great ball for me?

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball could still be a good option for you. The ball is rated for medium to lighter oil conditions. If you have a higher ball speed or were speed dominant, you may find this ball works better in lighter conditions for you. If you were rev dominant then you may find that this ball works best in medium conditions for you.
