Storm IQ Tour 78/U

Introducing the Storm IQ Tour 78/U – a name that succinctly defines its essence: a urethane bowling ball with a hardness rating of 78! In response to the ever-evolving landscape of the sport, we've proudly crafted the Controll 78 Urethane, meticulously tailored to adhere to the latest PBA hardness regulations. This exceptional creation doesn't stop at the urethane upgrade; it showcases the time-tested C3 Core, a cornerstone in benchmark reactions for over a decade. The C3 Core, with its low RG design, possesses the remarkable ability to interpret the lane's nuances with precision, ensuring a true urethane-like response. This feature makes the Controll 78 Urethane a game-changer in the world of bowling. But that's not all – the 500-grit surface preparation, meticulously applied to the ball, keeps shorter oil patterns in check, helping you maintain control and accuracy on the lanes.

Question:

I throw the ball between 15-16 mph and my rev rate is somewhere between 275-300. Would this ball work for shorter or flatter patterns with my stats?

1/2/2024 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Yes, you could still find this ball as a good option for you but you would just want to make sure your driller does a layout that best fits your style. Also, this ball is ideal for medium lanes out of the box so if you find you are in lighter oil mostly and this ball reads a little too early on the lanes then you may could adjust the finish to a slightly smoother finish to give it a little more length.

Question:

I have a storm phaze 3. It’s been good when there is medium oil. But when the lane starts to dry, it starts to Brooklyn or hook more while throwing in the same spot. Would this ball help in that situation to hit the pocket on a dryer lane?

3/21/2024 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Out of the box the IQ Tour 78 is also designed to work well in medium oil. This ball will have a lower hook potential than the Phaze 3 in medium oil but it would still work best in medium conditions and some light oil. The good thing however is that this ball comes out of the box with a 500 grit finish. If you need to get this ball to work better in lighter and drier conditions you could take the cover to a smoother finish like a 2000 grit or even 4000 grit and this should take some of the grip off the ball to give it a little better length in drier shots.

Question:

How would this compare to a Purple Hammer

7/17/2024 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The IQ Tour 78/U will have an earlier read on the lane and will have a stronger overall hook potential than the Hammer Purple Pearl Urethane. The strength of the coverstocks are fairly close but where the 78/U gets more hook potential from is the duller finish and also from the stronger weight block. This also makes the 78/U work better in medium oil while the Hammer Purple Pearl Urethane is more suited in lighter oil conditions.
