Storm Equinox Solid
Storm Equinox Solid
The Storm EquinoX Solid takes performance to the next level, delivering more hook and power for bowlers ready to push limits. Built around the groundbreaking Solarion A.I. Core and enhanced with the A2S Solid Reactive coverstock, this ball is designed to dominate heavy oil conditions with confidence and control.
At the core, the tri-cylindrical Solarion design drives strong, decisive motion at the breakpoint without sacrificing consistency. Three distinct cylinders work together to optimize reaction: a large cylinder lowers RG for quicker revs and a smooth front-lane read, a top cylinder boosts drilling versatility, and a lightweight base maximizes torque and continuation. The result is the classic Storm skid-flip reaction with enhanced stability and power.
On the surface, the A2S Solid Reactive coverstock redefines lane grip and responsiveness. Engineered for maximum oil absorption, it delivers fierce midlane traction and explosive backend motion. What sets A2S apart is the ability to generate sharp, angular motion—rare for a textured solid—making the EquinoX Solid a truly dynamic addition to any arsenal.
Bold, aggressive, and built to stand out, the EquinoX Solid offers unmatched hook potential and a motion shape that rivals the Ion Max while carving out a performance identity all its own.

Storm Equinox Solid
The new High Performance ball from Storm is the Equinox Solid. The original Equinox was a huge hit among bowlers with the pearl coverstock. So Storm came out with the solid version. I needed a short pin for the shorter sport patterns. So I drilled mine 2 3/4 x 6 x 2. This gave me the perfect reaction that I was looking for in a solid Asymmetrical. It allowed me to play to the right and up the lane on the short patterns. With the Equinox solid it gave a little more tip down lane than I was expecting, which a nice bonus to help get the 10 pin out. The Equinox solid handles surface adjustments well also. Overall it is a strong 'Big" ball in the Storm lineup, but it doesn't seem to bog down a lot like some of the other big asymmetrical bowling balls. I have drilled a couple for customers of mine, they like the control and smoothness of the Equinox solid. Equinox solid seems to carry very well also. Been a big hit in our Storm Match Makers. Plus it has great shelf appeal! I would put the Equinox solid under neath the RST Hyperdrive and above the Phaze 2, Rock Star, and Gremlin. Very good strong ball for all styles! Equinox
The Storm Equinox Solid is a reliable choice for bowlers who want early traction, smooth control, and strong continuation. For a tweener-style bowler on house shots, it’s a confidence-building piece that performs well on fresh and transitions gracefully. If you’re looking for a ball that blends power with predictability, the Equinox Solid is worth adding to your lineup.
Customer Questions & Answers | Reviews
Question:
will this be a good 1-2 punch with og equinox and what ball can youi say is the closest to
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The Equinox Solid would fit between the Storm Level and the Storm Phaze II in overall hook with this have a stronger hook than the Level but less hook than the Phaze II. If the lanes have a little more carry down and you find that the original Equinox was not able to give you a great line then the Equinox Solid could help to give a smoother reaction and be able to grip in the oil areas of the lanes.
Question:
Is there any difference between this ball & the ion max
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
Both balls are excellent choices! The Equinox Solid offers aggressive midlane traction and a sharp, angular backend reaction on medium to heavy oil conditions. The Ion Max provides maximum hook potential and strong continuation on heavy oil patterns.
Question:
How will this compare to ion max
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:

Question:
Is the new equinox equal the phase 3
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The Equinox Solid is going to have a different reaction than the Phaze 3 had in a big part due to the coverstock and finish out of the box. The Equinox Solid will read earlier on the lanes for a smoother arcing hook while the Phaze 3 would go longer and have a sharper backend hook.
Question:
I have the eqinox pearl what would be the difference between the two
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
i got mine yesterday because i used it at a demo and the difference i see is that it's much earlier and stronger and has better oil absorption
Question:
How would this ball be compared to the hyperdrive solid
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
These options will be very similar in a lot of ways. Both are high performance bowling balls with a solid coverstock and 2000 grit finish so they will read in the mid lane well and have a pretty smooth reaction. The Equinox Solid is rated to be able to work down into some medium oil conditions however and the Hyperdrive Solid was really only for heavy oil.
