Alfie Cohn of Chicago, a United States Bowling Congress Hall of Famer, died Sept. 2. He was 86.

The four-time USBC Open Championships titlist and former Team USA member was inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame in 1985.

Cohn first found success at the Open Championships as a member of the 1966 Team All-Events champion, and he had his breakout performance at the 1971 event in Detroit as he captured the Regular Singles and All-Events titles with scores of 738 and 2,063, respectively.

He added another Team All-Events title at the 1973 event in Syracuse, New York, and placed in the Top 10 of every event, including a second-place effort in Regular All-Events with 2,060.

In 42 career appearances at the Open Championships, Cohn held a lifetime average of 193.9.

In 1977, Cohn helped Team USA capture gold medals in the five- and eight-man team events at the Pan American Bowling Confederation Championships in Panama City, Panama.

Cohn also is a member of the Illinois State, Chicagoland and Greater Calumet Bowling Association Halls of Fame.
