After three rounds, Canada's Caroline Lagrange and Sweden's Peter Hellstrom continue to top the leaderboard at the 49th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup.

Lagrange fired the first 300 game in the women's division at this year's event en route to an 18-game total of 4,449 (247.17 average) at Sharovaya Molniya Bowling Center. Hellstrom continued his blistering pace and sits at 4,579 (254.39 average) heading into the final round of qualifying Thursday.

In the third round Wednesday, Lagrange, the 2009 champion, increased her lead on the field by tossing games of 227, 268, 204, 268, 300 and 223. She leads two-time World Cup winner Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic by 162 pins.

Guerra sits in second place with 4,287, while Team USA's Danielle McEwan is third with 4,244. McEwan put together a big set Wednesday but one bad game in the middle kept it from being record-breaking.

The six-game record for the women is 1,531 set in 2005 by Lynda Barnes of the United States. McEwan finished the day with 1,475 but the set included a 168 game in the middle. McEwan had games of 277, 259, 236, 168, 256 and 279.

On the men's side, Hellstrom fired his third consecutive six-game series of 1,500 or better. He finished with 1,518 in the third round on games of 238, 258, 256, 248, 260 and 258.

Russia's Alexei Parshukov sits in second place with 4,397, while Mats Maggi of Belgium is third with 4,359. Team USA's John Szczerbinski is in 11th place with 4,246.

There were three more perfect games on the men's side Wednesday night as Mykhaylo Kalika of Ukraine, Or Aviram of Israel and Chris Sloan of Ireland all delivered 300 games. For Aviram and Sloan, it was their second 300s of the event.

The World Cup features a long qualifying format as all players bowl four six-game blocks over four days. The field is then cut to the top 24 men and top 24 women for eight additional games to determine the top eight for round-robin match play. After match play, the top three men and top three women advance to the stepladder finals.
