The field at the 49th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup was narrowed to the final eight men and eight women for round robin-match play Friday.

The two players who have led most of the week in their respective divisions remained in the top spot heading into match play at Sharovaya Molniya Bowling Center. Canada's Caroline Lagrange leads the women with a 32-game total of 7,809 (244.03 average), while Peter Hellstrom of Sweden leads the men with 7,787 (243.34 average).

The advancing players will bowl eight games of round-robin match play Saturday morning to determine the final three men and three women for the stepladder finals, all of which will be broadcast live on BOWL.com's BowlTV.

Heading into match play, the men's field is tightly bunched with just 175 pins separating first from eighth. Israel's Or Aviram is second with 7,772, while Belgium's Mats Maggi is third with 7,708.

Also advancing to match play was Guy Caminsky of South Africa, John Szczerbinski of Team USA, Bodo Konieczny of Germany, Humberto Vazquez of Mexico and Alexei Parshukov of Russia.

In the final game of the Round of 24, Vazquez jumped from 10th place to seventh by shooting a 299 game. The Dominican Republic's Manino Fernandez just missed the cut to the final eight by 37 pins.

The women's side is a bit more top heavy as there's a gap of almost 180 pins between third and fourth. Two-time champion Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic is second with 7,689, which is 120 pins off the lead. Team USA's Danielle McEwan is third with 7,571 and trails Lagrange by 238 pins.

The other women advancing were Maria Lourdes Arles of the Philippines, Cherie Tan of Singapore, Roosa Lunden of Finland, Thashaina Seraus of Aruba and Luminita Farkas Bucin of Romania.

There were three more 300 games in Friday's Round of 24, bringing the total to 16 for the tournament. The only advancing player to shoot 300 was Lunden, who had the third 300 in the women's division. Nino Stenko of Slovenia and Joel Tan of Singapore also shot 300 Friday.
