Great Addition to the HyRoad family

After someone stole my CrossRoads I wanted a replacement ball for tournaments. The Sky Rocket performs to my expectations and more with the HyRoad Pearl stock.

My average is 170, with this ball I've been steady avg 200 and higher. Hope Storm continues to roll out balls from the HyRoad stock as they continue to be best performance for money than any other ball I have used.

Great Ball

I average around 200. My house has backed off the oil some this year. My pearl Crux hooks too early now . Had new ball drilled 4x4x3 . Used it for first time in league last night shot 214,245,259=718. Until they apply more oil to the lanes I will use this ball.

Great Ball!!!!

I developed bicep tendinitis in November and had to quit bowling for a month to rehab. On return to lanes, my 16 lb. Rapid Fire was a little heavy and I only averaged 178 (usually 193 to 196). So I ordered a 14 lb. Sky Rocket to see if that would help. My last 5 sets, I threw 597, 629, 669, 660, and 672!!!! I have to start my approach back about a foot and 2 boards to left, and, if I can hit the pocket, it'll strike 8 times out of 10. It's been awesome!!! I feel like a pro!!!!

Excellent backend with great pin carry

Works well in both wet and dry lanes. Slide long but with very strong backend, creating great pin carry. I hav a higher performance ball which doesn't work well with typical bowling center condition. This Skyrocket solves all my problem with dryer lanes. Definitely my go to ball now.

Everything I needed for my bowling comeback!

I am 65 and didn't bowl for 10 years. Previously averaged in mid 180's. I bowl now in an early league (right after lanes are oiled). I fought all season to establish a consistent hook with my old Columbia ball. I am not a cranker, but more like the late PBA great Earl Anthony (I wish). No herky jerky motion. Just a smooth delivery with good fingertip release and follow thru. Bought this ball last week and practiced twice so far on oil, getting a 584 and a 592. This thing comes off the oil like a demon possessed with the 1-3 pocket! They should put turning signals on it! Yet I made 8 of 9 10 pins over 6 games due to its predictable roll. I fully expect to average in the 190's with the Sky Rocket. I wish I had this ball sooner!

Wanted to try something new

Bought this ball wanting something similar to the gold rhino with a bit more back end. I've used it now for two series and I am impressed. 673 and 760. Has a nice finishing move to the pocket with a lot of power. Very happy with the purchase.

Superb value and versatility for house shot and beyond

15.5-16 mph left-handed 300-325 rpm 190avg pre purchase 15 weeks later 206***no lie***This ball booms off the spot, loves friction, but stores enough energy for slightly mid heavy conditions to still hit like a tank.if I'm not carrying with the solid (first out oval)this ball provides excellent predictable reaction

Strong backend

I am an senior bowler with a slower ball speed averaging around 200. This ball goes long and hooks a ton on a house shot for me, but the carry is good not many corner pins.

Cool looking ball but didnt help me improve

I bought this ball last fall with the storm match, and was very impressed with the storm match on light oil, getting a 249 and 206 with it early on. I have been averaging a 160 with the match, and a 130 with the sky rocket. My overall average for my whole life is about 150. Highest league average is 181. Id like to get a ball that helps me improve to 170-190, so I think I am going to give up on trying the sky rocket, as I have owned it for 5 months with a 130 average. I don't know if I need to figure it out more, but I would have by now. So I am going to keep the storm match, and get a Columbia swerve as my medium-heavy oil ball.

I dont know

Well I bought this with a storm match about 5 months ago, and the storm match has generated a 249 high game, and a 160 average. However with the storm sky rocket my high game is only about 170 and average 130. Usually I average about 150 and have averaged 181 as my highest league average. I don't know if its the drilling or the pearl coverstock I'm just not doing good with it. Id say make sure its your style before you buy it. I was really hoping this ball would help me out, but a little disappointed.

Met all expectations!

Bought this ball for heavy oil and it really drives toward that pocket! Only problem was it took a while for me to get used to shooting spares. I had to get it in my head that the ball will actually do what I bought it for! Missed a bunch of easy single pins to the left before I finally showed confidence in the ball to hook dramatically. The only problem was in my brain! For 10-pins just flatten your hand and sling it with some extra speed (right handers). Definitely would recommend this to anyone with some bowling experience. Not for beginners though.

Question: Do you have the spec's for a 12# ball

9/3/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello Ron! You can request any specs for this ball located in the blue box underneath the weight selection.

9/6/2016 - By

Question: Is the storm rocket sky reliable on spares

10/13/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: The Storm Rocket may not be the best spare bowling ball. This ball is designed to have a hook on the backend of the lane so it could be hard to adjust to get the corner spares because of the hook potential. The most widely used spare ball would be a plastic coverstock ball.

Question: I am looking for a ball that I can go to once the lanes start to break down. I start my game with a Marval s but I do not have a ball that I can go to that is reliable I average 175, my mark is the fourth board and I like a ball that goes long and finishes strong. P.S. I hate to move left. Suggestions?

5/29/2017 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: This would be a great ball. I looked into it more for you and the Ebonite Game Breaker 2 Phenom Pearl or the 900 Global Special Ops would also have a stronger finish with a later break.
