Awesome Performance

Besides looking fantastic, The Grudge is the most aggressive ball in the DV8 line I've ever thrown. The new composite solid cover, is simply the best thing going. It reads the lane early, (exactly like you will want in your heavy oil ball) but it manages to maintain an incredible amount of energy going through the pins. It gets through the heads clean enough to provide the reaction you are looking for, but it hooks early enough to handle heavier volumes of oil. I would definitely recommend this ball to anybody looking to take their heavy oil game to the next level. This is just another reason why the DV8 line is the best in the business.

DV8 Grudge

The DV8 Grudge is a must have!! The Grudge provides maximum hook with a great amount of energy through the pins. This ball is smooth through the mid lane and angular off the breaking point. The new composite cover stock technology gives you better traction in heavier oil volumes. This ball works best on heavier conditions but can be used on house patterns if you change your angles.
The opinions expressed are solely those of the writer and not of Brunswick Bowling Division.

DV8 GRUDGE All I can say is WOW!!

My Name is Doug Cutler and I am a DV8 Regional Staffer. I am left handed and throw around between 15-16mph. The surface on the Grudge is out of box which is 500/1000 Siaair Pad. Pin is 3-4". I drilled my first Grudge with the Pin just above my ring finger and the CG Stacked. All I can say about the Grudge is WOW! This ball is a hitting machine and it throws the pins all around. This is the most aggressive ball that I have ever had and I loving this ball. I can play up the boards or I can move inside and keep it in the oil and it just cuts through the oil. Also one other thing I love about this ball is if I make a mistake like leak it left it still recovers and still hits hard and does not roll out. I am going to drill another one also and change the surface on it. I compare this ball with my Brunswick Nirvana which at the time was my most aggressive ball and I see the Grudge reads the mid lane cleaner, but saves more energy for the back and has more angle or hook when it hits the pocket. The Brunswick Nirvana reads the mid lane earlier and then kind of just rolls to the pocket which is good for some of the patterns we bowl on. I have used the Grudge on the Kegel Autobon which is a long pattern, and on Kegel 39 foot Flat shot(which was our pattern for the Indiana Master), and also on a THS. On the THS which we bowl on beat up wood I tried it out of the box surface and it was a little too strong, but I brought the surface up to 4000 and man what a difference and I can play from multiple angles. If you are looking for a ball for Heavy oil patterns or even a THS this is a ball you will need in your bag. You can change surfaces on the ball and it will react. If you are using this ball on short patterns you will need to bring the surface up on it. The New Composite Cover Stock is Amazing and hit a HOME RUN with this ball. So Get to your Local Pro Shop today and purchase a Grudge. You will not be Disappointed! #dv8grudge#dv8bowling Doug Cutler PBA Champion DV8Staffer

HOOOOOOOK

DV8 Grudge
Bowler Stats:
Speed: 18-19mph
Rev Rate: 400-450mph
Axis Tilt: 7degrees
Axis Rotation: 30-60 degrees
Layout: 45 degrees by 4" by 45 degrees (small hole 1" down VAL)
Intent: Hook. A lot.
On the lanes: The Grudge has been advertised as so strong that I haven't thrown it much until I saw a pattern with enough volume that would really test its strength. The 2015 IB Open pattern is 47' with 33ml of oil; perfect for a test. On the fresh, the Grudge was the most hooking ball in my bag out of the box hands down. Compared to my original Nirvana at 1000 grit, I was surprised to find that the Grudge was about a board stronger than the Nirvana even with its surface. On this pattern I had the Grudge being a little more rolly in nature than the Nirvana so I now have two distinct shapes at the very high end of my bag.
Final Thoughts: I feel like I could literally make this ball hook on ice (at least a flood). Even at the OOB finish, there was plenty of friction to be had. I'm likely to order another and have a stronger layout and rougher surface to have a Grudge/Grudge/Nirvana top part of my arsenal for this year's IB Open and longer PBA patterns. The only question I have is wondering how they can possibly make something in the future that hooks more.

Redifinition of Hook in a box!

I wanted to have a complementary drill to my Brunswick Nirvana pin down, so I went with the Grudge drilled pin up above my ring finger, with the pin and CG in direct alignment of each other. The result is a tremendous amount of hook that provides a much more versatile ball reaction on heavy oil.
The ball motion is very clean through the front part of the lanes, while maintaining a tremendous amount of hitting power. This ball maintains its motion at the break point and through the pins, with incredible predictability. I strongly encourage anyone considering a heavy oil ball to definitely consider the new DV8 Grudge.

Holy Hook!

The DV8 Grudge redefines the cliché of "Hook in a Box"! This ball is just a monster on heavy oil!

The DV8 Grudge is another incredible ball in the line of many from DV8 to add to anyone's arsenal. I can't believe how much this ball hooks!

Grudge just flat out HOOKS

The DV8 Grudge, OMG. This ball is absolutely a hooking machine. Ita hooks and it keeps hooking. If you need a ball for HEAVY volumes of oil, this is the ball you need in your arsenal. I laid mine out to roll heavy through the lanes and pick up quick in the midlane and roll to the quick to the pocket. The Grudge is a MUST and needs to be in everyone bag.

DV8 Grudge

This ball is very strong.. This ball is great for fresh and long patterns.. It hits like a truck..I got two of these and they are drilled the same . One is polished and one has a 500 surface.. I don't move all night when I see it breaking a little more then usual I go to the polished one and stand about the same line I started with.. This is one of the best balls I have thrown.. Love it

This ball turns left

This ball gets thru the heads extremely clean and has a super aggressive backend motion. I personally added a lil more surface to get it to read a lil sooner, but it still maintains its energy thru the pins

Bottom line; may be the best ball on the market!

I used the Roto Grip Haywire most of all of last season, and had rated it as probably the best ball I have thrown. I recently bought the DV8 Grudge to handle the long oil in the house I bowl, which is roughly a 44' pattern, with oil that pushes down quickly, which just eats up any hook you may have, especially if you are a cranker who spins the ball without turning your hand over...well, this ball is probably the most powerful ball i have ever thrown, had it drilled pin over, just right of my ring finger, this ball is really special...but keep in mind; a shorter pattern could be a problem for you with this ball, especially if the lane begins to dry, just too powerful!

There is a reason I see 1 after another at our house, that is my only negative, everyone is buying this ball! :)

Customer Questions & Answers  |  Reviews

Question: I am 77yrs old ball speed 10.5 to 11.5 roll straight up back of ball If I get ball drilled a pin down with plan between my fingers what will happen

3/10/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: This ball is designed to read the lanes earlier to give you more of a gradual hook on the lanes. Out of the box this could be difficult for your ball speed. The features on the ball like the coverstock, weight block, and finish will effect the performance of the ball much more than the drilling. Different drill patterns can alter the ball slightly but the ball will still want to read earlier and this could be hard for someone with a slower ball speed. You may prefer to get a ball that is either a pearl or at least something with a polished finish to get you more length to match your speed.

3/11/2016 - By

Question: How does this ball compare to the DV8 dude

3/10/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: The Grudge is going to be much stronger overall than the DV8 Dude. The Grudge has a solid cover with a duller finish to help it read in heavier oil and also read more in the midlane to get the roll started sooner than the Dude which was intended to go longer on medium to lighter oil.

3/11/2016 - By

Question: Should I expect more hook than my Marauder with the Grudge even though the Marauder has higher RG?

3/24/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Yes it is 3 to 4 boards stronger. Shot 216-238-256 = 710 right out of the box.

3/29/2016 - By

Answer: Higher RG = more length. Lower RG = earlier reaction. Also, the Marauder has a polished surface, while the Grudge surface is 1000-grit sanded, making it significantly stronger.

9/20/2016 - By

Question: Hi. I am looking to drill this ball so that I can get length and then look like someone kicked it left at the break point. I am a low rev player with a ball speed of about 13.5mph. My PAP is 4" over and 3/8" up. Any suggested layouts? I appreciate it. Thank you, Ed?

3/28/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello, you may check with the person who will be drilling this ball for you prior to ordering to determine which layout and specs they would use to get you the desired reaction.

3/29/2016 - By

Question: How does it compare to the Thug Unruly ?

3/30/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: This ball would be a stronger hooking ball than the Thug Unruly. It would be similar in length but the coverstock and weight block on the Grudge are more aggressive than the Thug Unruly's coverstock and weight block. The hook rating for the Grudge is 265 and the hook rating on the Thug Unruly was 240.

4/1/2016 - By

Question: is this ball the hardest hooking ball that dv8 produces right now

4/12/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Yes, according to DV8 the Grudge is the biggest hooking ball in their current line for heavy oiled lanes.

4/14/2016 - By

Question: dv8 seems a little strong on my house shot med-heavy oil. 15.5 ball speed. have spinner and pads' how do i turn it down a notch

7/5/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello! The easiest way to make the ball hook a little bit less would be to apply a polish to the ball. If you don't want to do that, then you can sand the ball to a higher grit. The ball is 1000-grit out of the box, so you can use higher grit pads. How much higher will just depend on how much less aggressive you want it to be.

7/5/2016 - By

Question: I'm 60 years old and like to bowl down and in. Average ball speed is 13 - 14 . what do you recommend for dry to medium oil lanes?

8/9/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello Skip! That would be a question I could probably answer a lot better if we spoke over the phone. But generally, I probably wouldn't recommend this ball for what you're describing. I would lean more towards something like the Roto Grip Wreck-It or the DV8 Freakshow.

8/9/2016 - By

Question: does the ball hook more with the weight hole drilled in it

8/11/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello John! No, the weight hole shouldn't significantly affect how the ball hooks.

8/12/2016 - By

Question: How does the vack end break of the grudge compare to the grudge pearl on heavy to medium oil?

11/13/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: There will be a noticeable difference on the backend hook for these two bowling balls. The pearl ball is designed to do all of the hook motion on the backend of the lane so the Grudge Pearl will be a more aggressive backend. However, the Grudge starts hooking earlier on the lane for a smoother reaction through out. It will have good continuation on the backend but because it starts hooking earlier it will not have as much hook left over for the backend as the pearl ball. The Grudge will be the stronger hooking ball out of the two but not the stronger backend of the two.
