The Grease Monkey Pow is in Radical's EZ Use line of bowling balls. This ball offers more hook on medium-heavy oil conditions which is an expansion of ball motion for this performance line. Just like the original Grease Monkey, this ball features a symmetric core and Radical's innovative finger scoop technology. These features combined with a more powerful reactive coverstock produce a more aggressive hook. The features of this ball and it's value price will make you say POW! (or wow).
This ball is quite the upgrade from the original Grease Monkey. This ball has solid cover (original was a pearl), yet the difference in ball reaction is remarkable. It is cleaner than the Grease Monkey but wayyy stronger on the backend. Awesome medium benchmark ball. Oh, and did I mention that it strikes a lot? Cause it does.
I drilled mine 40 x 4 x 75 (Double thumb weight hole).
Radical intended the Pow to create versatility from the Yeti and Reax series and delivered a winner on the Monkey Pow. Most typical house shots, this can be the first ball out of the bag and depending on what surface you are looking for, (I hit mine with the 1500 Siaar Pad) will keep you clean through the front and deliver a stable and consistent ball motion on the backend. Using the recommended double thumb layout, I have increased the predictability and maximized the motion to the fullest. If you were a big fan of the Brunswick Versa Max, then you will love the Grease Monkey Pow.
Very good backend but still good through the heads.
It's such a great ball my average increased by 10 pins
Purchased the Grease Monkey Pow and the Grease Monkey Whack for leagues thinking the Pow would be my go to early when the lanes were oily and the whack later when the lanes start to dry up. Wrong. Neither were good for heaver volumes of oil even though the Pow is advertised as such. I drilled the pow strong (stacked with pin beside the ring finger) and the whack a little weaker (pin up with the cg in the palm). There was no difference in the total number of board they covered only in the shape of the back end. The Pow was more of an arc where the whack was more angular. I found myself using the whack most of the time because I could get good carry with the Pow. Well I went back and added the motion hole to the Pow and man did this ball wake up. It went from one I was very disappointed in to one of my favorites. The motion hole made it a little longer and a little more angular. Carry is awesome. Light hits carry. Solid hits keeps the pin low and sends messengers flying like mad. Its just a fun ball to play. Its still a Medium oil ball at best but I am glad to have it in my bag.
