Motiv Jackal Legacy

The legend of the Jackal goes on with the Motiv Jackal Legacy Solid. This high-performance bowling ball is a hook-beast! The Jackal Legacy was designed to handle the heaviest oil conditions that a bowler might face. This ball uses the versatile and strong Predator V2 core and pairs it with the Coercion MXC (MaXimum Continuation) Solid Reactive coverstock to produce the strongest Motiv bowling ball to date. The Predator V2 core has been used in previous Jackal balls but the Jackal Legacy introduces the Coercion MXC Solid Reactive coverstock. This coverstock provides outstanding traction in heavy oil as well as a strong down lane motion with continuation. This ball will be powerful, provide tons of traction on heavy oil, give a smooth motion, as well as a controllable shape that helps lessen the over/under reaction on wet/dry lane conditions.

Stroker Ace

It seems like most reviews are from power crankers, guys and gals who can throw it 17mph+ with great axis tilt and revs. I'm a stroker/tweener who throws it 15mph with not a lot of axis tilt, and the ball is very well-suited to that style. The ball has an extremely predictable and controlled reaction off the oil, not flippy or jumpy at all. It's a somewhat slow but very unstoppable hook. It's classified as heavy oil, but it's more a medium-heavy oil ball for me. When the lanes are flooded I have to keep moving right to angle this ball into the pocket. But, very importantly, I CAN keep moving right. This ball has an incredible finish through the pins even on very shallow angles into the pocket, kicking out corner pins better than any solid ball I've ever owned. I threw a 300 and 289 with this ball this past league season, and the 300 was pretty much straight up the 10-board all third game after the pattern had been pushed all over the place and had a lot of carry-down. I think this is an excellent piece for the non-"power" bowler.

A new legacy is born

The Jackal Legacy was a surprise for me, taking a big Assym core and wrapping it with a super strong shell in the past meant closed angles and a ball that labors to get back up the hill. Then I threw this one and my preconceived notions were shattered. The Jackal Legacy cleared the fronts then dug hard in the mids and made the corner very similar to the Jackal Ghost. It is one of those balls that I throw a couple times and put it away because I don’t want to wear it out, it was that good. Best way to describe the ball is a jacked-up version of the Jackal Ghost. I have it 5-7 boards stronger than the Ghost on the House shot.

237 out the box... 😁

Love this ball! On recommendation of a local pro shop, I picked this ball up for heavy oil conditions during league play, it has become the go to weapon of choice for me...😁

Question:

whats the lane play difference between Legacy and Alpha ? Is the coverstock that much different ?

1/10/2021 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

They both have the same weight block and the same finish out of the box so the difference it really going to be in the coverstock. The new Jackal Legacy will have a slightly stronger coverstock but in performance they will be very very similar overall. They are both also designed for heavy oil only.

Question:

on fresh oil on a THS this ball should be good for a game or two I,m thinking

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is designed to work in heavier oil conditions so it could work that first game just after fresh oil is put down. However, this is a very aggressive ball so I am not sure how long through that first game you would be able to continue to use this if there are several bowlers in the league and if they are playing a similar line.

Question:

do you use any polish or cleaners on this ball

2/2/2022 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball comes with a duller finish but you could polish the ball if you wanted to get more length. Also, because this is a high performance ball it will soak oil into the coverstock so you would need to clean the ball before you store the ball at the end of the night to make sure it stays performing the way it should. Motiv has both a polish and cleaner available if you needed either option.
