In Memory of Tony ReyesThe sport of bowling lost a special person this past Friday in former PBA Tour Champion Tony Reyes.  Reyes who was 38 passed away from injuries he sustained in a car accident in California.

Reyes was a great bowler who was on the PBA Tour for 14 season, he won his only Tour title in 2006 at the Motor City Classic in Detroit.  It was a magical moment as he bowled the 18th televised 300 game in PBA Tour historyin the semifinals against Hall of Famer Parker Bohn III.  In the championship match he beat Wes Malott 255-238.

PBA Commissioner Tom Clark commented on the passing of Tony Reyes saying, "It is a sad day for the PBA and bowling." Clark also said, "You hear descriptions about people all the time as being 'great guys.'  Well in Tony Reyes' case, that is an understatement.  No one who ever met Tony Reyes didn't like Tony Reyes.  He was a great bowler, unique talent with a gift of spreading the virtues of the game, a wonderful friend and the sadness we feel is indescribable.  Our thoughts are the Reyes family."

Reyes hadn't been focusing as much on Tour competition in recent years because he had focused his attention mainly on his pro shop and coaching.  He was a graduate of San Jose State University in 1998 with a degree in radio, television and film.  While at San Jose State University he was a First Team All-American in 1993 and 1995.

Reyes was an amazing person with a million dollar smile and he will be greatly missed.  Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the Reyes family.
