On This Day In Bowling History

In case you were wondering on this day in history the White House bowling alley opened. The opening happened on April 25, 1947.

President Truman was the one who inaugurated the two-lane White House bowling alley.

Although Truman did not play much (he was more into poker), he helped start the White House Bowling League. The league was pretty exclusive the bowlers included Secret Service agents and groundskeepers. Unfortunately, the alley was closed in 1955, but a new one was built in the Eisenhower Building. If a president really wants to win us over all they'd need to is invite the people from bowling.com and a few of their friends over for a few games. If they wanted a guaranteed vote let us put a team in the White House league.

We can all dream can't we? We'll probably just have to settle for the league at our local lanes, but the pictures are fun to see!
