It's back! Hammer's legen-(wait-for-it)-dary Black Widow line continues with the Black Widow Assassin ball. This ball combines the Widow core and the First Blood coverstock sanded in a 1000 grit polished finish making this ball one of the most aggressive and continuous hooking balls available for medium to heavy oil lane conditions.
Bought this ball as a specialty ball in my arsenal for only medium to heavy lane conditions. I am a low rev straight and in player and noticed my Columbia 300x not finding the pocket all that often due to heavy oil saturation on the lanes at my center. I needed a change and found the Black Widow Assassin! Hammer has outdone itself with this ball. Had it drilled to match my Columbia but dropped to 15 pounds for added control and it has increased my average 20 pins thus far with my first 600 series and an 11 strike run. It finds the pocket almost every time even when I throw a bit wide. I've run over the 2 board and it slams through the 1-3 pocket and drives through the pins with an exclamation point. I would recommend this ball to anyone who wants a highly reactive back end ball that drives through the pocket HARD! Nobody would be disappointed with this ball in their bag.
Hammer finally brought back it's best core ever, unfortunately they paired it with a newer coverstock. It's no where near as good as the Black Widow Bite was for hooking in and wrecking the pocket on the back end. It is however a functional ball when the lane breaks down or your looking to get more length. This ball makes me miss the old Widows even more, but that said its the best ball on the market for serious bowlers.
Out of the box I threw a 733. Very pleased that they came back with the Widow gas mask core. I have owned all the blackwidow balls ever made. I have the Deadly Aim. The Assassin finishes off my arsonal.
My second ball. First was used just to get out of lane balls. Really turns well for me and lots of energy on impact. I'm sold on Hammer balls.
If your not used to a high hook ball I would suggest some practice before buying this one. I've been bowling with a plastic ball the past 8 years and this has been my first purchase since then. I don't have the hang of it yet but with some practice I'll be sure to get it down. Overall great ball with a big explosion.
Got this ball as a gift. Its my second ball and pairs well with my Hammer Nail, which I use for dry lanes. I dropped down to 15 pounds and it gives me complete control on my release. I hit the 1-3 pocket almost every time and it drive through the pins. Even when the backend reaction is early and I hit Brooklyn, it still has enough power to drive through for a strike. My 1st 4 releases with this ball were strikes in league play.

The Black Widow Assassin is a great ball on fresh oil and when the lanes start to transition. When on fresh you may have to square up to the friction zone, until there is a defined hook spot down lane. When moving deeper to open up the lane, this ball retains energy well and still has the hard arc motion and continuation through the pins that we have come to love from the Black Widow Series. I would have to say this ball reminds me of the Black Widow Pearl.
For my layout, I used a 5x4x1.5 layout. Due to my high ball speed I have found that keeping the pins around 1- 2.5" from my Vertical Axis allows me to control the backend motion without having to do alot of tricks with my hand. In my opinion, I believe everyone should have this ball in their bag.
The widow assassin is an add on to an already great line of widows before it this ball has a tremndous down lane move and is super clean in the front destroying pins when it hits i drilled mine 55x5x40 to keep it a little more neutral it has an aggressive cover with the first blood stock and the gas mask core has always been a winner like this ball will be for anyone who adds it to there arsenal

I just got this ball as a "my first real ball" kind of thing. I've never been able to control and hook a ball like I can with this. It's amazing, even for someone who always used to use house balls. It was a little rough to get used to at first, but now my game and consistency has improved 10 fold. Definitely best usedon a medium to heavy oil condition, but still works pretty well on a dry lane as well. All in all a wonderful ball.
Bowled with the Assassin for the first time today. Straight out of the box the ball got down the lane and had great late movement! Pin carry was outstanding. When the Assassin hits, it hits HARD! The sound of the pins crashing alone turned quite a few heads at the alley!
Conditions: League Bowling on freshly oiled lanes
Legendary Toughness from Hammer. The Gas Mask Core wrapped with the NBT coverstock of the First Blood? There can only be good things ahead. Already reaching all-time favorite status. Use this one out of the gate all the way through the transition period. After they break down a bit, get in and wheel it!
I drilled my Black Window Assassin pin up 4 x 2 MB at 65 and I took the surface down with a 1000 pad and then polished it back up with Power House Clean and Sheen. I drilled this ball a little on the strong side as I wanted the ball to get through the front part of the lane but I wanted to see a stronger move as the ball encountered friction. Not so much a "hockey Stick" reaction but a nice defined move as the ball hit the back end of the pattern. Something just told me this was going to be 'THE BALL" it looks great and with a proven core (gas mask core). The Black Window Assassin does not disappoint! With the Clean and Sheen the ball gets down the lane with ease but when it sees friction it wants to go! I can do straight with this ball or open up the lane the versatility is amazing. If the fronts start to burn up this ball will try to hook early. As long as there is oil you can chase in this ball is great as it can really open up the lane. Just like all Hammer equipment the Black Window Assassin keeps the pins very low increasing carry percentage. The Black Window Assassin is a great all around versatile ball. A must have!
This ball read the lane pattern extremely well. Only used it a few times during my league play but wow..this ball is easy through the front part of the lane with a nice smooth roll and it revs and makes the strong turn at the breakpoint that is definitely needed in everyones game. The hitting power it unbelievable and if you loved the Black Widow of old you're gonna love the Black Widow of new !!
This ball does what was said it would do! Great back end and very consistent!
I have never used any type of "fancy" ball and always used the house ball. Love this thing. My scores have gone way up in the few weeks I have owned this ball. Can not wait for the next outing. Very good back end action. Love it!
First off, I'm so very glad I got this ball, absolutely in love with it. Got it delivered after a week of waiting, and drilled that day. Bowled one game to get the hang of the ball, then went straight into league. Got a 159 average with four games of bowling in. It's also 5 or 6 maybe more boards stronger than my The Sauce ball. It also has a crazy amount of backswing from the break point to the pocket. Even if you miss your mark by one or two boards, this thing will be coming right back like a ton of bricks. Will be staying with hammer bowling balls. Like they say nothing hits like a hammer.
