Amazing Ball!

I originally bought this ball to use as a weak ball, I did put a strong layout on this ball and it gets through the heads incredibly cleanly. It is very snappy on the back end which is great for heavier house shots and heavier sport shots. Simply put, the ball hooks.

Strike Back!

There are days that we all experience and must go through for us to experience growth. The days where we fight the good fight and yet, we are beaten and left behind as if they had put an end to you. The question is, are they right? Did they in fact beat you for good? Or... do you stand back up and bust yourself off and prepare for the next round?... That's a simple answer for the MOTIV Nation. We stand back up in the face of adversity and keep moving forward! We #STRIKEBACK with Venom Cobra. MOTIV has taken its very own benchmark piece in the Venom Shock and decided to have some fun!
Not only are we introduced to a new cover stock, but also a newly modified gear core in Top Gear dual-density core. The Cobra couldn't just have a new core of course, MOTIV just had to go and wrap it with a hybrid reactive cover. With this dangerous combination, we see a similar ball motion as seen with the Shock with the addition of length and a quick response to friction.
The beauty of the Cobra in my opinion is how well it complements the Shock. The Cobra to me is essentially a backup benchmark piece in the product line for MOTIV. Although the core is a dual-density design, the specs of this new core compared to proven gear core are very similar on paper. What this does for me is offers a similar ball motion with slight differences on the lane and when entering the pin deck that can only be seen when the ball is in action. Now this cover stock, this was exactly what I have been seeking for some time that I originally thought the Venom Panic would provide. When the Shock begins to read the front and mid parts of the lane, I found myself seeking a piece with a very similar ball motion the Shock offered but much cleaner and easier to get through the fronts. At first, the Panic seemed to be the answer, but I soon saw that I would sacrifice sharper down lane reaction for this ability to clear the fronts. With the Cobra however, the hybrid cover allows for the clean roll but still provides a

Go to ball

I like how this ball does well on light to med oil conditions. Unless the lane conditions are horrible, there is no guess work . If there is more oil on the lane, it does what I need it to , and if less , it still moves well and gives those pins a good smack around . The Cobra and the Primal Rage are a great 1-2 punch. As stated in my other review , I've just learned to hook / curve while bowling so for those of you who know your way around the lanes , you will love what this ball will do for your game !

Pros:
Compliments the Venom Shock, Good amount of angular backend, Very Clean, Very Versatile
Best Uses:
Medium to dry lanes
Bottom Line:

A Cleaner Shock

The new Venom Cobra has a new Top Gear dual density weight block that will give you great continuation and hook potential on the back end. Compared to the Venom Shock, it is cleaner through the front part of the lane and has much more angle going through the pins for even better pin carry. When drilled the same as the Shock, you will see a good 1-2 punch for any arsenal. The ball is also very clean through the fronts with its 4000 polished finish. Don't be afraid to take the polish off or lower the surface grit if you want a reaction closer to the Shock.

Venom Cobra great ball

I love my ball. It has worked really good on less oil lanes. It produces a great hook coming off the light oiled lanes. My average has improved 30-40 pins in my 2 league. Not bad for being over 64. I love the look and feel of this ball.

Cobra strikes hard

I have my ball drilled with pin up in between fingers. CG stacked with pin. Used this ball in league , but can't wait to use it in some tournaments! The venom cobra went long and hooked at the back ends! Very smooth not over reactive like some balls! Shot a 201, 198, 201. I believe my scores will be higher next time! But highly recommend this ball. Great ball to use when you get too much over reaction from other balls in your bag! or too much back end on the lanes.

Fast acting

This is however my first ball but it was a wise choice i use it more in medium oil lanes. It overpowers light oiled lanes for me. But is perfect on backend for medium.

Hope this helps!

Question: i read where it is 5000 ls you say 4000 which is it ?

4/28/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hi Louie. I assume you are referring to the finish of the ball. Where you saw 4000 is a review from a customer. Motiv states that this ball has an out of the box finish of 5500 Grit LSP.

4/28/2016 - By

Question: would the Corba Venom go well with the Trident.

7/23/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello! It could be a good compliment for when the lanes start to dry up pretty significantly. It largely depends on you as a bowler and what you're wanting to use it for exactly.

Question: Does it come with holes in it or can I get it without?

11/14/2016 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Question: I throw a Ebonite Legacy how does this ball compair to it.

1/15/2017 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: The Ebonite Legacy was actually an upper mid performance ball at the time it was out and it was rated for more oil than the Venom Cobra. Out of the box the Venom Cobra is going to get more length and have more of backend hook where the Legacy was designed to read the lanes a little earlier and a little smoother hook throughout.

1/17/2017 - By

Question: Could you give me a little insight on what the different grits (1500 to 5500) do to the length down the lane? Also what the various pattern layouts have on when the ball is going to hook on medium oil patterns? I realize ball speed and rev rates can impact this, but consider like a 13mph rate.

1/25/2017 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: Hello! The higher the grit will be the longer it will go before breaking. Your driller can drill your ball exactly how you would like it to react.

1/30/2017 - By

Question: Is this ball polished ?

9/10/2017 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer: This ball has a hybrid coverstock with a Finish: 5500 Grit LSP.
