Angelo Takes No. 1 Berth in PBA Viper Championship Finals Brad Angelo put up a 279 in his final game Sunday to end up with the top berth in the Viper Championship finals during the GEICO PBA World Series of Bowling. Angelo bowled games of 236, 258, 199, 227, 236 and 279 during the six-game semifinal round. Add it all up and he totaled 3,344 pins. Don't forget to tune in and watch the Viper Championship on ESPN Dec. 23. Sean Rash, Mika Koivuniemi and Mike Fagan will be the other bowlers that are accompanying Angelo in the finals. Fagan edged out Scott Norton by one pin to win the final spot.

When asked about his performance Angelo said, “I’ve been executing well for the last few years, but getting that little half-pocket strike to keep a string going hasn’t been there.” Angelo also said, “At this level, if you don’t get those strikes, you can’t compete. And today, I got some of those. I don’t know what it was, but the chips fell. If you don’t have speed and rev rate in today’s world, you can’t keep up. My little trick has been a slow float and still being able to get the ball through the pins. When I can do that, I’m pretty tough to beat. That’s my uniqueness, and it hasn’t been there for me lately. But to be the leader? You can’t beat that.”

Rash who was last year's PBA Player of the Year moved into first place in the World Championship race gaining a 16 pin lead on Chris Loschetter from Avon, Ohio.
