The 2013 World Series of Bowling

At the 2011 World Series of Bowling at South Point Casino the international bowlers came to play taking home seven of the eight titles.  Will this year be more of the same?  Or will history hold true?  Prior to last year Korea's Yong-Jin Gu and Finland's Osku Palermaa were the only international players to win a title at the WSOB.

This year the fourth annual World Series of Bowling will start November 2 and continue through the November 11.  The event is a great showcase for the PBA where 66 of the biggest stars in the game hailing from all over the globe will be competing.  This year's World Series of Bowling will have bowlers from 17 different countries all hoping to represent their nation well.

The real story as far as countries go has to be about America's bowlers trying to regain the firm grip they had on the game of bowling.  A firm grip that seemed to slip a little last year and gave the rest of the world reason to believe that they are a force to be reckoned with in the sport.

American bowlers are already talking the talk.  Sean Rash said, "We had our chances to win titles and didn't get it done last year. It’s a new year and new things can and will happen. As much as I travel worldwide, the players around the world are, for sure, very good, but I would take our USA players any day when it comes down to it.”

Standing in Rash and the rest of the americans will be a host of great international players that is led by the Aussie who bowls with two hands, Jason Belmonte.  “I can’t see why we can’t dominate again,” Belmonte said. “The international contingent has only become stronger since the last WSOB. With the formats as short as they are for most of the events, it's possible for anything to happen.”

Former PBA Player of the Year Chris Barnes was asked a simple question about this year's WSOB.  Will the international players repeat their domination this year? Barnes replied, “No!"  Osku Palermaa had a different response to the very same question saying, "“Of course we can repeat."

We'll just have to wait and see who comes out on top this year, but one thing is for certain, it'll be a lot of fun to watch!
