Columbia 300 Cuda PowerCOR

The Cuda name and technology have been some of the best from Columbia 300 and now they are introducing the Columbia 300 Cuda PowerCOR. This version of the ball features an updated Cuda core to meet present-day demands. The PowerCOR has a dense inner core piece that is drillable and helps remove any drilling restrictions. This ball core also has a dense flip block to move mass outside of the middle of the ball which results in a higher differential and more imbalance. This upper-mid performance ball is encased in the ERT Solid coverstock. This cover performs best on medium to heavy oil conditions.

Columbia 300 Cuda PowerCOR

Columbia Cuda is a strong symmetrical solid that is very versatile.if you are looking for a ball that is clean through the front of the lane and very smooth off the end of the pattern, this is a great choice. The ERT solid picks up the midlane well and the ball continues through the pins I can play this ball down and in and also move deeper on the lane and carry. This makes this ball one of the first balls out of my bag in leagues and tournaments for its predictable motion. It is a good benchmark ball to get a feel for the lanes and help break down oil patterns.

Cuda Powercor

Let me start off by saying I really like symmetrical balls. With that being said I wasn’t surprised I liked the Cuda right out of the box. It was an early rolling ball for me with the factory finish. I found it very similar in shape to my Dark Web. I decided to shine it up and boy am I glad I tried it. It seemed to push a little easier down the lane and provided a stronger finish. It was exactly what I was hoping for. This ball allows me to open up the lane and not sacrifice carry when I start moving in on the lane. This is a great ball for someone looking for more shape out of equipement!!!

Columbia 300 Cuda PowerCOR: Swim with the big fish!!

The Cuda PowerCOR is that bigger symmetric solid when you need more pop in the heavy stuff, or if you are speed dominant and want more motion. The PowerCOR has a dense inner core piece that is drillable and helps remove any drilling restrictions. The Cuda also features a dense flip block to move mass outside of the middle of the ball which results in a higher differential and more imbalance. This means more backend motion and hitting power through the pins.

I drilled mine (50) x 3.75" x 40 to help maximize flare while keeping a smoother backend motion. The cover of the Cuda is very versatile. I used it at 1500 for Thailand 39' sport shot and bowled 246 out of the gate, sanded it to 500 for a heavy volume 48 ft. custom FDDS sport pattern, and bowled well cutting down on my angles. Then, I polished it for the THS and it gave me extra length, quicker transitions, big hit through the pins, giving me four messenger strikes on my way to a three game set of 731. The proof is in the pudding, get yourself a Cuda PowerCOR and start swimming with the big fish today!

Columbia Cuda PowerCOR

Here are my thoughts on the remake of the Columbia Cuda. The Cuda features a symmetrical PowerCOR cor wrapped by burgundy/black ERT solid cover finished at 1500 Siaair. The layout I used is 60 x 4 3/4 x 70. I have tried the ball on Kegel Neon and two 43’ challenge patterns.
For this release, I was looking for a hard revving symmetrical option for higher volume patterns. The Cuda did not disappoint. The THS at my home is Kegel Neon- a lower volume longer pattern on a high friction AMF SPL surface. In this environment, I had to be inside to get enough oil to kick the ball down the lane. The Cuda got around the corner and trips the 10 efficiently. It's overall shape is early but continuous. At box surface, the Cuda is definitely a ball for fresh. I've tried the ball also at 4000 Siaair and at this surface, the ball handled Kegel Neon much better. Looking at what I saw, I see myself using this ball on medium to longer distance patterns that have higher volumes...the first ball out of the bag if you will in those environments.

The Columbia Cuda is available.. See your local pro shop for more information on the remake Columbia Cuda!

Columbia 300 Cuda PowerCOR

The Columbia 300 Cuda PowerCOR is a biggish solid symmetric ball that produces a shape that I like to see. I compared it against my Hammer Dark Web and my Ebonite GB4 Solid. It shaped more than both of the other two for me. It picks up early in the mid lane but still has power left when it gets to the pins. From what I have seen in the past, many pieces that read that early will not have much energy at the pins, this seems to have that little extra to keep going. I will be replacing one of those other two in the arsenal right away.

Columbia 300 – Cuda PowerCor

Columbia 300 has had other successful remakes such as the Power Torq and the Messengers and the Cuda is no exception.
The insides feature an updated version of the original Cuda’s core that has a dense flip block and because of this density, moves the mass away from the center creating a larger differential and imbalance. The cover is a ERT solid in a burgundy/black color scheme that comes from the factory @ 1500 Siaair Micro Pad. The added value for this Cuda, is the versatility of adjusting the cover to suit your needs. I have used both the box finish as well as polished and have not seen any loss of effectiveness.

In my arsenal the Cuda is similar to the Power Torq but with a little stronger backend reaction and seems to adjust well to slightly heavier the medium oil patterns. It will fit well on those longer house patterns.

Question:

How does it compare to my Cuda 2000

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Unfortunately we have limited information on the older Cuda 2000 bowling ball to compare this but the Cuda Powercor will have a higher hook potential and this can help this work well in today's heavier oil conditions.
