Ebonite continues to break games and the rules with the Ebonite Game Breaker 2 Phenom Pearl. This performance bowling ball takes the proven Enhanced V2 core and covers it with the pearl version of the GB 11.2 coverstock to present a ball with more length and more backend at an affordable price point.
What can be said about this GB2 Phenom Pearl, except WOW. The GB2 Phenom is probably my favorite benchmark ball right now, and this ball just complements is beautifully, once my phenom starts to lose a little hit, I switch to this and keeps me in that same spot with the great hitting power I've expected out of the GB2 line. First time I? threw this ball, it instantly amazed me, not only by its shelf appeal, but how it rolls and hits the pins. This ball is going to be something that I keep in my bag for a long time. Ebonite surely outdid themselves and I am very proud to represent such a great company.
Well GB2 fans, here is a ball that was missing in this line up. The GB2 Phenom was the strongest in the line up for me. Was much stronger in the fronts than the original GB2. However, when the Phenom started to burn up a little, I didn't have anything to go to. Now comes the Phenom Pearl. To be honest, I'm normally not a fan of pearl covers. They are too over/under for me. I'm a left-handed tweener with a 300-320 rev rate. I usually have no problem getting a ball down the lane. I'm a huge fan of the Ebonite Maverick. When bowling league I start with that ball. I bowl on 17 year old HPLs. Plenty of friction. So I decided after one game to throw the new Phenom Pearl. Wow! It read the mids so well and revved up like no pearl ball that I have owned. And it was throwing pins! Usually I have a hard time getting a pearl cover to carry. After a couple of weeks with this ball, I have no fear going to my bag and pulling it out. It will be a mainstay in my tournament arsenal, which consists of (2) Mavericks, Tyrant, Rebel Solid, GB2, and Warrior Supreme. As an Ebonite Amateur staff player, believe me, I needed to have something pearl in my bag, and now I have it!
First of all let me tell you how EXCITED i am that the famous V2 core got the proper pearl cover that it has needed for some time. This ball is a perfect compliment to the Original GB2 Phenom. I found success with this ball in games 2 and 3 of league. For me the Phenom pearl truly performs well when the lanes start to get a little drier. If you bowl league on a drier house condition or see a lot of transition in games 2-3, you won't go wrong with adding the GB2 Phenom Pearl in your bag. Truly the perfect benchmark pearl to have in your arsenal.
I have never been disappointed with the GB2 line. This ball is a great addition to anyone's bag. It gives more length than the GB2 Phenom with a strong backend motion that gets back to the pocket.
The Phenom Pearl completely exceeded my expectations. I absolutely loved the original Gamebreaker 2 and wanted a pearl to compliment it. The MVP and GB2 Pearl just didn't look as good as some of the other pearls. The cover on the Phenom Pearl compliments this core perfectly. I have been able to use this ball playing 25 when the pattern gets chopped up and the track when it is fresh. This is the pearl ball I have been missing from my bag.
A low RG, Medium Diff symmetric pearl is something I was missing in my bag, and the GB2 Phenom pearl produces exactly the reaction I was looking for. When the front part of the lane begins to burn up and the GB2 Phenom is no longer an option, the GB2 Phenom Pearl will get through the front part of the lane with ease and provide plenty of motion down lane. For me personally, this ball is an excellent ball for the recreational league pattern as it allows me to stay further right when the big ball assymetrics start to burn up in the front. For tournament play, I find myself navigating to this ball later in blocks when the pattern has forced me left looking for length. While strong enough to create enough angle for down lane recovery when the pattern has broken down, with the right surface adjustment, this ball will provide stability in the middle part of the lane when the pattern is fresh as well.
