Hammer Black Widow 2.0
After much anticipation, the Hammer Black Widow is back in a 2.0 version. The new Hammer Black Widow 2.0 showcases the original black and red colors as well as the original reaction shape that has been updated to perform on today's lane conditions. This ball provides plenty of traction on medium to heavy oil conditions and produces a massive continuous ball motion which gives a lot of angle resulting in the high scores the Black Widow bowling balls are known for. The Black Widow 2.0 core is the Gas Mask core, the same as the original. This core is wrapped in a Carbon Fiber outer core which provides durability and power. The coverstock used us the Aggression Solid which is finished with a 500, 1000, 2000 Siaair finish.

I got the 2.0 sent to my house as soon as it delivered, I took it to my pro and had it drilled. I bowled 7 games in the 190’s with it. With a little fine tuning, I’ll be smashing 200’s. You’re gonna love this Black Widow 2.0

2.0!!!!!!!!
This ball is fun to throw! It gets down the lane super clean and then makes a sharp left turn. But then again, its a black widow and that ball motion is legendary. If you don’t already have one in your bag, I highly recommend you get one.

This is my go to ball, I've been using it for about 4 months now and my averages for all my leagues went from 189 to 200. I usually use it from beginning to end because it is so easy to control on any lane condition. I will be getting another one.

NEVER FAILS!!
I TRULY HONESTLY DEEPLY LOVE THIS BALL!!!!!!! I have had this ball since it was first released. I also had the original and this one is the same if not better. This ball is a must. It rolls through the pins! I have moved way right and its clean enough that it gets through the front nicely, I have also moved way left and the ball doesn't quit. It is predictable and reliable and always in my bag! I have never had to add surface even after 60+ games. I HIGHLY recommend getting this ball no matter if you are a league bowler or tournament player.

Gask Mask Core Returns
The Black Widow is back and exactly what you want in your bag! The BW 2.0 can be the next best benchmark ball in your bag! The OOB finish provides multiple angles of versatility with the ability to change the surface and make it fit your lane needs. This ball is very predictable and allows you keep your angles in front of you! I drilled mine 55 x 4 1/2 x 25.

It's Back!
This is the closest to the original widow that they’ve come out with ever since. For a strong asym solid its very clean through the fronts, very strong yet predictable off the spot. Hits like youd expect from a hammer with the old gas mask core. Takes amazingly well to surface changes like the original, from 500 all the way to high polish. Very versatile and very easy to match up with just about anybody.

She's back!!
The Black Widow 2.0 is very much like the original Black Widow but a bit stronger. I liked the surface out of the box which was very smooth and responsive. Allowed me to close down the angles as well as open them up and was pleased that it was very predictable from every angle. This is definitely a ball to have in your bag and if you were a fan of the original, you'll be in love with this baby!!

It's BAAAAAAAAACKKKKKK!!!
This ball is amazing with a capital A!
I went with my favorite layout with this which is 4 3/4 pin to pap. Basically outs the ring above and to the right of the ring finger. This ball never quits. You can circle the lane with it or still go down and in with it. Either way you wont see this ball stop. Continue'd motion is the name of the game. The original Black Widow Legend had it and this one is a chip off the block. Love the look and the motion!!! Get this one in your bag before its gone!!!

Predictable!
First thought on the new Black Widow 2.0 is predictable.
The ball is smooth with a rounded shape , down lane. It packs plenty of hitting power.
Observation is straight out of the box, no surface adjustment. The ball will tell you what the lane is giving you and make your adjustments from there.
Keeping things simple!

This ball is a MONSTER
This ball is a beast. I have 2 of these bad boys in the bag for league night. I have one drilled pin up for a little more action and one pin down for a little more length for when the lanes break down and I couldn’t think of a better combo. I can’t get over the pin action you get and just hearing the sound of the pins smashing when you hit the pocket is beautiful. Widow 2.0 is were it’s at baby.

An all-star of a ball!
The Black Widow 2.0 is a ball with a wow-factor, plain and simple. It'll surprise both you and the others that are watching you throw the ball. A lot of times you get a ball you want to hook but it burns up mid-lane. Then if you go with something shinier, it floats down lane too much and is unpredictable on the backend. The Black Widow 2.0 grabs in the mid-lane like an aggressive ball should but it finishes on the backend with the hitting power of a pearl ball. I've not seen many balls perform like this one out of the box but it has earned a guaranteed spot in my bag no matter where I go, tournament or league.

Black Widow 2.0 review
The Black Widow 2.0 is a little cleaner than I was expecting, but I'm not disappointed with it. It reads the mid lane very nicely, and has a smooth arc shape through the pins for me.
It rolls close to my Knock Out but is about 3 and 1 boards weaker than the Knock Out for me. I never had the original Black Widow but anyone who has had success with the Widow line in the past will be pleased with the Black Widow 2.0!!!

You know what it is!!!!!!
I personally dont think much needs to be said about this release. The re-release is basically identical to what it was when it first came out. You know what you are getting and that is a great asymmetrical ball. There is no guessing here. Multiple drillings and layouts and you will love each. It is a classic done properly by Hammer

Great ball
I would put this ball just under those strong asymmetrical balls. Its strong but has a more rounded shape to it that makes it very smooth and controllable. It's great on those medium to heavy oil conditions. It allows me to play different angles which is rare for those stronger asymmetrical balls. Comparing it to the original Black Widow, its very similar shape wise but obviously stronger to combat today's oil.

It's Back, Black & Beautiful
The Black Widow 2.0 is the most powerful and continuous solid that I have seen in a long time. It gives good traction on medium to heavy oil with continuous ball motion that creates great pin action. I didn’t throw the original Black Widow and I didn’t like any other black widows. However, I’m in love with this one here! This is definitely my first ball out the bag and some nights, I don’t need anything else!

Angular like the original
Layout - 70x5x35
I’m a massive fan of the Widow core and I’ve had every one of the balls. To hear a remake was coming out of the original, was a no brainer for me to get. I was hoping for something moderately clean through the front parts of the lane with a nice pop/kick left downlane like the original, and I got it. This ball does just that. I’ll start a block with something smooth and quickly transition to this to get that left hand turn early. This ball is another win for the black widow series.

Like the Original Black Widow...Only Better!
The Black Widow 2.0 is fantastic. After all the variations of the Black Widow this is the true second version of the original, so it had a lot to live up to and I think it does. The Gas Mask core is probably my favorite core of all time. It is just so continuous and powerful. It produces great pin action and hits as hard as any core I've ever seen and just seems to strike more. Now this Aggression Solid coverstock at a 2000 box finish is exactly that.... Aggressive and more overall hook than the original for sure. But the shape is very familiar for Widow fans. Strong overall, good mid-lane traction and amazing through the pins on the back. I've seen the best look from this so far when it sees some oil. It's not meant for the dry really, but it thrives on a fresh house shot with some oil and on sport shots. Mine is drilled 55 x 3.75 x 20 and lets me open up the lane some and play multiple angles too. This will be a ball I use early in league and early in tournament blocks.

Did you like the original Black Widow? You might as well order this one up because it reminds me of that exact same motion. I put the exact same layout on this one as the original and clean and smooth hard arcing shape down lane. There is a little more oil on the outside on our house shot now so I was able to move right and then move left as the lanes broke down and the shape was always consistent. I could've had a monster set with this ball out of the box but I was not making quality shots in game 3.

It's back!
A match made in heaven to compliment the already successful Web solid. Switch to this asymmetric ball when you need something to get through the heads clean but have some angularity on the back ends and continuity through the pins. Also, don't be afraid to hit up the cover with a little bit of surface. Another great ball to have in your arsenal.

Hammer does it AGAIN :)
Hammer Black widow 2.0
Hammer has done it AGAIN ?? The Black Widow 2.0 features the original Gas Mask core shape the bowling world knows and loves and is combined with a Carbon Fiber outer core for durability and power. This familiar core system is wrapped with Aggression Solid. I drilled the ball 30x 2 ½ x 50. Boy is this ball predictable. I through it on the Neon pattern and I was able to control the pocket the entire way all the way through the pin deck. Very, Very smooth the entire way. A must have in Anyone's Bag.

The legend is back and better than ever!
The original to the legend to the pink there has always been a staple among them - Backend Bite!
This ball is very clean through the heads and when it sees friction it make a turn to the pocket, but its not something uncontrollable. Mine is drilled Pin up above the ring finger and the cg kicked just right of the ring and the mass bias in about 1 inch off of the thumb. A layout I used on many Widows - I was expecting to see a familiar reaction. I saw that on a higher level and I was very surprised to see how the Widow now under Brunswick's umbrella was going to react and they have Knocked this out of the park!!!

Just like I remember!
I had the Original Black Widow around the 2006 time frame. Hammer has done a great job with this update. The Black Widow 2.0 performs exactly like I remember my original performing. I still get that great clean look through the front of the lane, but the movement at the break gives extreme power going through the pins. I drilled my Black Widow 2.0 at 55 x 4 1/2 x 35. This ball currently the first ball out of my bag, and I believe anybody will be able to find a spot in their bag for this extremely versatile ball. Hammer has a ball in the Black Widow 2.0 that will change the game just like the original Black Widow did all those years ago.

You don't want to miss this one.
The Hammer Black Widow series is new to me as I wasn't bowling when the Widows were first introduced. I was/am a fan of the Black Widow Pink from last year and I have to say I'm an instant fan of the Black Widow 2.0. I was surprised how clean it is through the front part of the lane but then it has a very strong, smooth rounded shape to and through the pins. You don't want to miss out on this one. I would says it's a little cleaner than my Track Proof Solid , similar rounded shape but a little more continuous.

Hammer Black Widow 2.0
Here is my take on the new Hammer Black Widow 2.0. The Hammer Black Widow 2.0 features the well-known, proven Gas Mask core wrapped by the Aggression Solid cover. The Black Widow 2.0 is Black/Red in color and factory finish is 2000 Siaair.
My "vitals" are a 405 rev rate with a PAP of 5 9/16 over and 1/8 up. I drilled the Black Widow 2.0 with a 55 x 5 ½ x 28 layout and have used on both fresh and leftover THS, a left over medium distance challenge pattern and fresh Kegel Tungsten. I have thrown it at factory finish and 4000 Abralon.
The purpose of the Black Widow 2.0 was to recreate the original ball motion of the 2006 original Black Widow, but for today's slicker oils/higher volumes etc. Over the years, I have had good success with Gas Mask core equipment because they always seem to clear the fronts and retain energy to show strong continuous back end motion. After working with the new Widow 2.0 for several days in different environments, the stated objective of the Widow 2.0 was achieved. Notwithstanding the aggressive cover and surface preparation, the Widow 2.0 did clear the fronts with ease. The backend motion is best described as strong/continuous. Compared to a similarly drilled Redemption Solid (which shares a similar cover/surface prep) the Widow 2.0 is definitely cleaner through the front and stronger in the back. When prepped with 4000 Abralon, the ball shows even greater length but I preferred the box surface as I felt the more aggressive surface was a little less sensitive to transition. My experience with the Gas Mask core has shown that different ball motions can easily be achieved with different layouts. From what I have seen, this ball should be very versatile for a number of different bowlers in many environments. The Widow 2.0 ideally should excel on medium to heavy volume patterns with medium to longer distances.

Guess Who's Back...
I've had the chance to throw this in our wood training center and all I can say is WOW! I wasn't a huge fan of the other recent widow releases but this one will have a spot in my bag for sure. This ball really gets through the front part and midlane and has a nice continuous motion downlane but VERY responsive. This will definitely be a piece in both my league and tournament bags.

Legend is back
Black widow 2.0 is exactly what you would expect out of a widow. This balls reads the mid lane and has that nice continuous motion through the pins that you would expect from a widow. I know people were curious how this ball would be when brunswick took over and I can tell you this ball didn't disappoint. I pretty much stayed in the puddle on the house pattern and besides a few wrap 10s this ball was getting to the pocket with ease and getting through the pins. So if you like the widows dont miss out on this one.

Black Widow 2.0
Are you ready for a feeling of nostalgia, while striking on todays conditions?!?! I drilled this ball with a 50 x 5 x 35 layout, which is the layout that I've used on at least one of each widow release, and it puts the pin above my ring finger. The ball really blends out the medium to heavy oil patterns that I see and it gives me a continuous and predictable motion!

Question:
Is the core symmetrical or asymmetrical
Have an answer to this question?
Question:
What’s the big difference between these I’m 64 lady and throwing a 14 lb I need to go lighter so I have a pink widow hammer Asymmetric
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The Pink Hammer was a pearl coverstock with a polished finish to help the ball get down the lane before it started hooking and gave it more of an angular backend hook. The Widow 2.0 has a solid cover with a duller finish so it will start reading earlier on the lanes and have a smoother arcing hook.

Question:
I’m taking up bowling again, I’m left handed, 6’3 , 270 lbs, pro at bowling alley recommended I get a tropical storm or a fever pitch. I’m really interested in the black widow 2.0 , any ideas
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The Tropical and Fever Pitch are more designed to work in medium to lighter oil conditions. This Widow 2.0 is more suited for medium to heavier oil conditions. Maybe the local pro at your alley knows that the lanes are not as oily so he recommended the first options to work for you. The Widow may be too strong and hook too much if you try it in lighter oil conditions.

Question:
Since this is a solid will it break a lot sooner that the hybrid black widow bg?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
Yes, this will read a lot earlier than the Widow Hybrid Black/Gold. The Widow Hybrid Black/Gold also had a polished finish out of the box to help give it more length compared to the duller 2000 grit finish on the Widow 2.0.

Question:
Good for straight baller
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This ball is designed to have a pretty high hook potential so it would not be ideal if you wanted to throw the ball straight. If you needed a straight ball we have them listed under the performance category as a spare ball. Here is a link to the options: https://www.bowling.com/shopping/all/bowling-balls/all?performance=4

Question:
i use a hammer venom 15lb ball i have to replace it due to cracks in the thumb hole what ball due you have that is similar to this ball or due you still carry it
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The Black Widow Venom has been discontinued but the current Black Widow 2.0 would be the closest comparison to this in the current Hammer line. The Widow 2.0 will have a slightly duller finish out of the box which will make it read a little earlier on the lanes compared to the Venom but if you needed to you could refinish this to a 4000 grit finish to give it a little closer read to what the Venom did.

Question:
My favorite ball was the Deadly Aim, and the Scandal 15lbs. I had hand surgery and needed to go to a 14lb ball. What ball is as close to to these ?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
It would be closer to the Scandal than the Deadly Aim. The Deadly Aim had a polished finish out of the box which would make it read later on the lanes than the Scandal and Widow 2.0 which have duller finishes. The Scandal was considered high performance while the Widow 2.0 is considered upper mid performance so this may be just a little less hook potential than the Scandal but they are very close.

Question:
What grit do need to have a gloss surface on the ball
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
Technically you could add polish to just about any grit. If you want the smoothest finish possible you could take the finish up to 4000 grit and then add polish on that to give you the most length.

Question:
Alright so I’m getting into bowling and I’m a two hander, is this a good ball for that?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
It is possible that this ball will work. There are a lot of factors to consider. This ball has a high hook potential and is designed to read the midlane and have a continuous arcing hook. It works in medium to heavy oil conditions so if you bowling center has a pretty good amount of oil then you may be able to use this. But if you have a lot of spin on the ball and the lanes are not very oily then this ball may be too strong and hard to control and you may need to go to something that is not as strong or something that works in lighter oil.

Question:
Is the 14 lbs ball similar to the storm Hy Road
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
There are a few key differences between these two bowling balls. The Widow 2.0 is a solid reactive cover with a duller 2000 grit finish to help it read earlier on the lanes while the Hy-Road has a polished hybrid coverstock to go longer on the lanes. Also the Widow has a stronger Asymmetric weight block compared to the Symmetric weight block on the Hy-Road so you will get more hook potential on the Widow 2.0.

Question:
Would it be better to get a 14 lbs hy road or a 14 lbs black widow 2.0
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
I would not necessarily say one is better than another. They have different reactions and it will depend on which ball better fits your style of bowling. The Hy-Road is made to go later on the lane and works well in medium oil. The Black Widow 2.0 is designed to read earlier on the lanes and it can handle heavier oil a little better.

Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The ball will come undrilled, but you may select the Custom Drilling option but would need to provide your own measurements and drilling pattern for our driller.

Question:
What's difference between the 2.0 And the legend black widow
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
When comparing Hammer bowling balls to each other you can use the FCC rating to get a great breakdown of the differences. The 2.0 FCC rating is Total-27.5, Finish-8.75, Core-8.75, Cover-10 while the Legend FCC rating is Total- 23.75, Finish- 7.25, Core- 8.75, Cover- 7.75 so the 2.0 is going to have a stronger hook potential due to the duller finish and stronger coverstock.

Question:
Can this be a beginner ball
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This ball is considered an upper mid performance ball and will have a strong hook potential for medium to heavy oil. Most beginner bowlers would not need a ball that has this high of hook potential or handle heavier oil conditions. It can also be a big change coming from a house ball to a ball this aggressive and may be hard to control. We recommend the entry level performance for beginners or possibly a mid performance for beginner who may be getting into leagues and you may look at this option later down the road.

Question:
I am a 75 yr old man who now uses a 14 lb Storm Roto Grip ball and throws a relatively straight ball with a slight curve just before it approaches the pins. My ball speed is in the 14-16mph range. Would I benefit from using your Black Widow 2.0 ball (14lbs) that would provide more of a hook into the pocket?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The Black Widow 2.0 (BW2.0) with the solid reactive coverstock is designed to read earlier on the lanes to give you a smoother arcing hook. I am sure exactly which Storm/Roto Grip ball you were currently using to know how this would compare but if you were wanting the ball to go down the lane straighter and just hook at the backend then you may prefer the newer BW2.0 model which has the Hybrid coverstock and has the smoother out of box finish which will get down the lane straight and then have a sharper backend hook. Here is a link to that model: https://www.bowling.com/products/hammer-black-widow-2-0-hybrid.htm

Question:
could this be a good ball for a less experienced bowler
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This ball could still be a good option for any level of bowler that has to bowl in medium to heavier oil lane conditions. It will have a strong hook potential and if you try to use this in lighter oil then you will struggle with it and it will not perform well.

Question:
What is the performance difference between a 13 lbs. Black Widow 2.0 and a 3.0
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
Hammer has an FCC rating system that grades each ball on the Finish, Core, and Coverstock. The Widow 2.0 and 3.0 have the same exact rating for the finish, core, and coverstock so they should have a very similar reaction. The only difference would be that the 3.0 has the upgraded HK22 coverstock but in terms of hook potential or performance this will only give it a slight edge over the 2.0.
