WOW!
This ball hooks A LOT! Perfect ball for heavy oil when you can’t quite get anything else to react. Creates great shape that gets through the oil and hits like a truck. Easily a go to on long and heavy oil patterns to help me burn a line before balling down to my Obsession Tour. These two balls definitely make a great pair! Head to your local pro shop and try one today, you will be OBSESSED!

Great Heavy Oil Ball!
The Obsession is Hammer’s heavy oil ball. It goes a little longer than the Redemption Solid, but has more overall hook. Compared to the Obsession Tour, the Obsession had a stronger response to friction. On a typical house shot, I was about 2 to 3 boards left of where I was with the Obsession Tour. I also felt more confident playing a tighter inside line with the regular Obsession as it made the corner in the oil and carried despite my average rev rate. If you are rev-challenged and dealing with medium to heavy oil, this ball would be an excellent addition to your arsenal because of its hook potential.

70 x 2 ¼ x 35 – PAP 4 ½ -> and ½^ - Speed – 15mph – Rev Rate 380
I have not tried a high end performance hammer ball in a while because I was always stuck on the throwback upper-mid performance. I decided to short pin this ball because of the strong numbers, strong cover and being a solid. My first 16 frames in league with this ball were 10 pin, 10 pin, and then the next 14 strikes after making an adjustment. I still ended up with a good series after that but the lanes were breaking down different from normal so I had to work through the transition. I should have changed balls because this ball is strong and needed more oil. I would recommend for heavy oiled patterns, also this ball rolls very strong and very little deflection through the pins.

Love this ball
I don't need to write anything about this ball. Just read the other reviews for the technical stuff.
I'm a beginner, throw very straight. And I can get hook from this ball. Someone better could hook it to the next galaxy!

Hammer Obsession
Hammer's all new Obsession is exactly what you need heading into tournament season! This is going to be your ideal heavy oil ball with some versatility as transition starts to happen. With plenty of units, this can be your game block ball, but if the midlane starts to go towards the drier end, the ball may lose energy downlane. I drilled mine 55 x 4 1/2 x 35 at 1000-grit surface, this ball has made me look good so many times! I can't wait for more bowling alleys to open up and to get more good use out of this ball!

Obsessed like a Brittany Spears fan
I went with the complete opposite layout from my Redemption Solid which was pin above ring and stacked shifted to the right. The Obsession is laid out pin under middle finger and cg kicked out whicvh gives it an early roll that is predictable and very good on lanes that are heavy and transitioning with carry down. This ball will eat up the muck and roll as smooth as the tour but much more early. This is a good ball to have as the lanes are transitioning and the downlane movement isnt happening - this ball with corner and make the move for you.

Get Obsessed!
This ball is the XXXXXX!!!!!! I love this ball!! I am about 15 games into it and I am averaging about 250 on SPORT Patterns with it! This ball does not quit! You can get extremely far left with it before you see any type of skip or roll out! And even when you do, you can change to the Obsession Tour. I have nothing but good things to say about this ball. Before I threw this asymetric, my fav was the Prism Hybrid. This one may beat that ball out as my favorite asym!

Obsession
I drilled my Obsession Old School 1/2 side 1/2 finger. In practice out of the box the ball was very aggressive on the backend, but was just a little to much for our house shot. I changed the surface to 3000 and was able to use it all three games in league (659) with some bad adjustments by me but overall a great ball reaction. If you need a ball for heavy oil this should be the first thing out of your bag.

Hammer Obsession
The Obsession is the new Big Asymmetrical ball from Hammer. It is used best on heavier oiled conditions long and short. I had success with it on a 35' pattern but with heavy volume so don't think it's a ball for only long oil patterns. I compared it to the Redemption Solid and found them very comparable. If you are looking for a new ball to fill that hole then this is the ball you are looking for.

Hammer Obsession Solid
The Hammer Obsession is a serious hook monster that won't disappoint. Lots of muscle to navigate the heaviest oil patterns. This is a great ball on the fresh that is early yet continuous through the deck. The Obsession has a nice coloration that will definitely turn heads by it's look just before the smash of the pins!

Obsession
This is a strong, continuous ball motion. This will give you some serious motion down the lane. If you are looking for something to cut through the oil then this is the ball for you. I was able to see a little more length down the lane than I usually do with most solids and it still had enough left to corner hard through the pins. Overall I really liked the shape from front to back!

I'm Obsessed
This is gonna be your big asymmetric core, solid cover, eat up the oil ball. It will be your go to ball on heavy volume or long oil patterns. For me it is very close in shape to the Redemption solid. I would say it gets a little bit farther down lane and is a little more angular thru the pin deck. Overall very nice shape with good carry.
By Mathew J from AZ
Pros:
Great for heavy oil
Best Uses:
Long or medium patterns with volume
Bottom Line:

Monster
Obession is the monster asymmetrical your looking for. This ball digs in the oil and doesn't lose its movement downlane. I can stay in the puddle with this ball and it just keeps coming back and hitting with power. This ball will be great on longer oil patterns or house shot with puddles in the middle.

multiple uses for a low rev, mid speed bowler

Obsessed with the Osession
I drilled my Hammer Obsession 45x5x40 to match my game. The ball was smooth and cleared the heads with no problems then it made a distinct move and thru the pocket. My lower rev rate of 300 and speed at 16mph usually keeps me from using very many strong asymmetrical bowling balls….except this one. I could move left and cross 20 going right and it kept continuing thru the pins! This is a new core design for Hammer and I for one hope they continue to use this technology.
By The Bearded Beast from Ontario
Pros:
Early friction, strong cover, great for heavy oil

needs oil

on heavy oil or speed dominant players

Strong, Smooth, Easy to control
Great heavy oil ball, or a ball for those who are rev challenged / speed dominant. Very controllable.
By TD from Artesia NM
Pros:
Hooks when new
Cons:
Looses bite over time even with surface change
Best Uses:
Heavy oil when new, Medium oil when older, and be prepaired to surface it after a few games.
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Obsession
This ball was purchased after my Redemption Solid dropped in performance. Now this Obsession Solid is suffering from the same fate. Even my Black Widow 2.0 has lost performance over time. I have not been impressed with any of the new hammer balls made in mexico. My old Rip-D still hooks better than any of my new mexican made hammers. My next ball will probably be a motive product. I have been a hammer fan and thrown many hammer balls for serveral years ,but the balls being produced by brunswick are not even close to what the old hammers were.e
Customer Questions & Answers | Reviews
Question:
Assuming that both balls are drilled pin down, will this react more than the Columbia 300 cammand or how would it compare?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This ball will act much more similar to the Command Solid. The Command had a pearl coverstock to go longer but the Obsession has a solid coverstock to read earlier on the lanes.

Question:
any difference between this and the Polaris ?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
There would not be a big difference between the two. Both are high performance balls with solid coverstocks and finished at a dull 1500 grit finish to work in heavy oil. The weight blocks are slightly different giving the Obsession Solid a little earlier reaction and slightly stronger flare potential but it would not be a huge difference.
