Motiv Covert Tank

Tanks are tough and strong and so is the Motiv Covert Tank. Motiv created a new coverstock that combines the best of urethane and reactive resin. The Frixion Microcell Polymer coverstock absorbs oil much slower than reactive resin but unlike urethane does allow some absorption. This coverstock enables the ball to generate more continuation along with better pin carry while maintaining traction. The Covert Tank offers more versatility than urethane balls to better match more bowling styles due to the strong Torx core. This core has a higher differential that creates more track flare, betters backend motion, and reduces the amount of oil distribution on the lane.

Question:

Will this ball be stronger then a burgundy hammer.and be a late hooking ball

8/17/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Hammer Burgundy Hammer was a urethane cover but it was very dull out of the box and this duller finish helped it to work in medium to heavier oil conditions. The Motiv Covert Tank is better designed for lighter oil conditions and it has a 2000 grit finish so it would go longer on the lanes than the Burgundy hammer but it was still dull to help it read some in the midlane. If you wanted a later hook you may look for a ball with a polished finish out-of-the-box.

Question:

What is percent resin to urethane on motiv convert tank

9/11/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

There is not an exact percentage given by Motiv on this. Because this ball has a lot of urethane in the cover it will make the ball less aggressive than a reactive resin ball.

Question:

I have holding my line will ball with that l need something that doesn't jump at the back end. I have Storm equipment now . Looking for a steady roller

12/13/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This Covert Tank should be a good option to play a smoother arc hook and it will not over react like some of the stronger reactive coverstocks do so hopefully this would be a good match for what you needed.

Question:

Plastic I hit pocket but no carry I throw pearl and it hooks to much what would you suggest

12/25/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The urethane cover is going to be the best option between plastic and reactive so it is not as strong of a reaction as the pearl reactive coverstocks.

Question:

My current lineup is the golden jackal and the freestyle rush. My jackal is to aggressive most time. Will the covert tank be stronger / angular than my freestyle rush? I need a smoother rolling ball.

1/19/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Covert Tank is not as strong of a hook as the Freestyle Rush actually. You could bump up to something like the Motiv Supra and that would give you more hook than the Freestyle Rush but still be a good step down from the Jackal.

Question:

Currently I have a Rhino as my spare ball and a Storm Astrophysix as my strike ball. Would choosing covert tank benefit my arsenal?

7/18/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Covert would have a very different reaction than the Astrophysix or the Rhino so it would be hard to fit this in your arsenal. This would work better for someone who liked the ball to read more in the midlane with an arc hook down the lane but that needed something for really light oil that gave that reaction. Your bowling balls are designed to go longer and have more on the backend so it would not match well with your current options.

Question:

I throw 2 finger hook and just use a 14 lb ebonite house ball but want something of my own really thinking about the desert tank or covert tank maybe freestyle rush but also looking at the jackal ghost or rogue please help

10/6/2020 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

It will depend on the lane conditions you see. If you are bowling on open bowling nights there will probably not be a lot of oil so the Tank series and Freestyle would be fine. The Jackal and Rogue are much stronger hook and require more oil so if you get into a league those could be a good option for the beginning of the night when there is fresh oil but you would likely still need a back up to one of those for when the lanes do dry out some and get lighter oil.
