Question:

I throw a straight ball. No hook at all. Would this ball work for me? I love the looks of it.

3/11/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

If you throw this ball straight it will go pretty straight. It is designed to be a hooking ball but it only hooks if you release the ball with the correct spin. Also, it is more expensive because of some of the features that help this ball to have hook potential so you are paying extra for the hook features that you would not really use. If you like the looks because of the spider the you may also check this ball out which is much lower in price but is designed to go straighter: https://www.bowling.com/products/hammer-black-widow-spare-blue-orange-smoke.htm

Question:

I’m looking at buying a new ball, all I have ever used is Storm and I have some questions before I make a purchase. First off, I am just getting back into bowling and all of my equipment is Storm with #1 ball being the Storm Invasion, how would the Black Widow black&gold compare to the Invasion? Also which ball is going to be better, the black & gold or the pink, or should I just stay with Storm and buy the Phase II?

Question:

Would this be a suitable ball for a straight bowler for Med-Heavy oil conditions

8/18/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

If you are a straight bowler then you would not really need to spend a lot on a upper mid performance ball because you could get a much less expensive ball that goes straight. The reason this ball cost more than some of the other balls is because it has a higher hook potential but if you did not want the ball to hook you would not need to spend extra on a ball that is designed for high hook. You could get a spare ball that goes straight for a much lower price or you could get an entry performance ball that was designed for a low hook for much less and it would work just as well as this if you throw it straight.

Question:

Does the black widow come in a lefty ball?

8/25/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

When the ball has an asymmetric weight block you may need to make the request in the specs box that you are left handed or right handed just to be sure the alignment is suited best for your hand. There can be limitations that keep you from have a lot of drilling options if you do not specify this when ordering an asymmetric ball. You can drill almost any ball to work for a right handed bowler or left handed bowler but to get the most options you would need to request for the hand you use when ordering just to be safe.

Question:

I have a new 14 lb. How would I determine the drill hole layout since the manufacturer layout is with a 15lb?

9/21/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The 14lb ball has the same weight block as the 15lb ball so the layout options are the same. If you went down to a 13lb then the weight block changes to a symmetric weight block and you would have to get a different layout then but 14lbs -16lbs has the same layout options.

Is this ball for straight bowlers

10/4/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

This is an upper mid performance ball so it has a pretty strong hook potential on medium to heavy oil conditions. If you throw this ball straight it will pretty much go straight but we sell a lot less expensive straight balls if you just need the ball to go straight.

Question:

Is this a good ball for someone who Bowls straight with a little hook at the end?

10/20/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball is designed for medium to heavy oil and the polished finish would help this ball go longer on the lane and have a sharp backend hook. It is rated as an upper mid performance ball so it has a pretty strong hook potential on the backend. If you do not put much spin on the ball it will not hook a lot but it has the potential to have a big backend hook if you put the right spin on the release.

Question:

Would this be a good ball to use for someone who throws with no thumb and already throws all the way to the left.

10/31/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

If you are right handed and stand all the way to the left to throw your current ball then you could use this ball to but it depends on other variables. It will depend on the lane conditions you bowl in. It depends on how fast you bowl as well and which board or arrow you throw out to. This ball could still be useful but only in the right conditions would this be a good option.

what makes this different than the statement hybrid regarding lane play ?

11/25/2019 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Both balls are going to have a very similar reaction on the lanes. The only difference is that the Statement Hybrid is a high performance and the Black Widow Black/Gold is an upper mid performance. This would make the Statement Hybrid a little stronger hooking over all.
